What's the future of this game?

"WWIIOnline is dead? What happened? "

They royally screwed up the whole thing by releasing a new version of the game with,IMO, some really ill thought out game mechanics.
Although, if you want to be an online Napoleon or Corporal Adolph the new version should really give you some wood.

And to top it off they then failed (as usual) to put a muzzle on Doc. So he continued to roam the boards whining to the players about thier failure to understand and offer sympathy for CRS-  which he tries to pass off as "the smallest team of over-dedicated developers in the whole online game industry." That in addition to literally berating those who're unhappy about the games horrendous performance, unresolved bugs and over game-killing features because they lack his "vision" and depth of (bottle-induced?) clarity as to what the game is and will be....well....some day.

murdr your verses are indeed true lol. Fast forward to the part where the mighty bombers totally nuke the field so no gameplay at all can happen. Normally there is an answer to the total dweebery that the virtual human race embraces..lets hope TOD will be it.

So is WW2OL actually "dead" or did it just get another nail in it's coffin? The game has been "dying" since it was released as far as I'm concerned...one sortie and the FM had me uninstalling it in minutes.

I guess if the ground war is your thing and you see aircraft as a distraction then WW2OL may be for you. If you like flying and see the GVs as a distraction, then you are in the right place with AH2/TOD.

I don't think the current state of the art for computer game programming and PC hardware is ready for a game that excels at both.

After playing AW for many years I heard about a flight Sim in late 1999 that was in Beta.  In early 2000 while I still participated in AW I started playing Aces High.  Went to the 2K Con at Indy (AW) New developments to AW were exhibited at the AW 2K con.  It was then I decided that Aces High was for me.

In the over 5 years I have been playing AH the game has been kept fresh.  Adjustments to FM (remember the A5 being modeled 500 lbs to light?) and AH adjusting the FM to make it correct.  Not only has the staff at Aces High moved the game forward with introduction of new craft air and ground alike.  Upgraded the graphics, new maps etc.  The Community has partcipated also advancing the game....Maps, Skins and Sound packages.
If it weren't for the Kraits in Aces High I probably would have left earlier then I did.  Map overlays, selection of skies, airfield markings etc. that the Kraits intoduced to a by then otherwise boring game kept me interested.  Plus the great community at Air Warrior and the Scenarios kept me somewhat interested.

Air Warrior was left on the vine to wither away.  Outmoded flight models.....unreal ammo loads etc were fine for the mid 80s' when nothing else was around.  When Aces High hit the Web it was a success right away.....and should continue to be as long as it's kept fresh by HTC.....and the Community participates as it does now with skins, terrains etc.

Future looks good to me.

I believe the "target market" is "box game" simmers wanting "careers" that they can follow like in the olden days with Red Baron

red baron is still at large, and is a great model of good game design.  Most of us are moving to Richthofens skies tho since RB3d is getting pretty out of date with the lack of updates since the code is still not open to the public.  The general idea of role play and a carear is a great ground work to build on imho. A good squad can get these things going pretty well if you are into historical reinactment.

HT has said in previous interviews that he would like to add an FPS element and even submarines to the game.  But I think with ToD coming down the pipeline, adding player controlled troops and subs has been put on the back burner for now.

Or it could be apart of ToD as well.

For as long as its taking, god knows what it will be like. And what we will have.
