Prayer for my Mom and a thought for all of you...
« on: July 30, 2005, 03:58:03 PM »
As some of you may know , mainly my squaddies , my Mom has terminal cancer. She has lived with my wife and I for the past 14 months and has been fighting this battle with cancer , for the 2nd time I might add , for 3 years now.

Recently , well since January her condition has become worst. She doesn't eat very much now and has lost alot of weight. She sleeps alot and doesn't have alot of get up and go like she used to. She is coming to grips that she may not have but a couple of months or so left.

I spend everyday with my Mom doing whatever it is she needs done. We spend alot of time talking about things and are always totally honest with one another. When I am at work she has my wife with her and they do the same. We call it making daily memories forever.

Without going in to to much more deatail I wanted to ask for a prayer for Mom again. She has had alot of info this week on her condition and how its progressed. She has some big decisions week after next about whether she will continue on Chemo or just stop. Pray that she wil have the strength to make the right decision for her and that her family will have the acceptance of whatever that maybe.

I also want to say to all of you , that , Cancer seems to affect so many people. Whether its a loved one or a friend , it seems like everyone knows someone who is touched by it in some way.

Please give support to those people. We were at the hospital this past week , mom and I , when they brought a lady into the room we were in for my mom's blood transfusion. She had noone there with her. It got me to thinking.

So many people face this disease alone. Their family may be around but not all that much help. Maybe they have noone but a friend. But she was just alone.

If you know someone that is fighting cancer , or they have a relative that is. Whatever the case , try to make a small amout of time when you can to spend with them.

I have the luxury , honor and true privlage to be able to take care of my Mom in my home everyday. To make memories and to talk about anything and everything or nothing.

So many others don't have that.

IF you can , please just make anytime or help you can for the people who have noone. Could be as simple as letting them just talk to you. Listening to them.

I think you all understand.

Thanks for the prayers from Me and my Family.

OTW and BTW to you and your wife for doing what you are. Yeah I know, you think what else would you do but it is noteworthy. Cherish the memories for thay are all that we truly do carry through life and perhaps beyond.

Prayers for you and your wife OTW as well.

Any time you want someone to talk to that's been in a similar situation let me know. Cancer makes for a small world.

You're doing a fine thing RT. I will put her on the list and you and  your wife as well.

Its really commendable for you to face catastophic illness and death with your mom, Redtop.  I hope we are all so lucky to have a loved one able to be with us during our tough fights.  Best wishes and prayers....

RT, prayers for you, your mom, and the rest of your family going up now. Cancer has struck our family pretty hard, too.
