I think the side that gets it should be the one that builds a flagpole that'll stand in more than 5 knots of wind.

times are changing there hang, as global warming opens up the vast arctic to shipping and mining, it's time to settle the details. iirc the island belonged to the british and became canada's in 1867.

the arctic may be cold and barren but if the northwest territories are any indication ( as they will soon out pace south africa in diamond production ) it could be the next gold rush.

With all seriousness.  I personally would like to know what the people from Canada think about this.  Do they forsee a war with Denmark?  Would they support such a thing?  Is it a big subject in Canada right now??  Would the US be dragged into the war because of alliences?  Just some questions i have been thinking about.

The U.S. would not join. We would simply force Canada to give it up or tell Denmark to give it up and move on.

I don't think most Canadians know or care all that much about Han Island.

A war with Denmark....pfftt...our people will sit down with thier people and after a few shots of whisky/aquavit and some beer they will agree to discuss this issue at another time.

It's not a big deal.

Would the US be dragged in.....nope I don't think there is any oil there :D   Also we are not sure who's side you would be on.....;)

"We will have the Beaver chocking in his own Vile Blood....Mounties will hear the cries of their own bones being ripped from their legs....There are no Canadians anywhere near Hans Island...never was.. Lies I tell you All Lies".....

Bingo, it's all about the fabled Northwest Passage actually openning up.  It's funny because our government is talking about how we have to be able to defend our sovereignty in the arctic.

Of course anyone with half a brain is thinking, "Uh, with what?  You damn Liberals didn't want to spend money on the military for years because, ya know, you don't need a military anymore because defence and war is teh over.".

And then the Liberals are all like, "Yeah, you're right Thrawn.  We're a bunch of tards that should fall on our swords, but we won't because we're too damn stupid...and hey swords are weapons so those are bad.".

But I'd still take the Liberal Party, rather than be ruled as a slave by the heathen Danes.

PS:  Our Queen could kick your Queen's ass.
