Is it just me or?
« on: August 07, 2005, 10:16:27 AM »
Has this forum become a religious forum for others to share their happening in their church?

I belive these are things that could be moved to another forum...

The O'Club is for recent news, personal news involving ones family or friends, a place to just shoot the breeze..

It's gotten kind of annoying having all these religious threads that are passivly pushing their religion on you..

The irony is that you are partially correct...there seem to be only two main topics these days...religion and guns.

Funny. I just did a quick scan and only see 1 religeon based thread.

If you are possibly inferring to my comments on marriage on another thread I assure you my opinions have no basis in religeon but on personal opinion alone.

No..not the marriage thing..

Talking about Seagoon, he seems to be pushing his religion as much as he can.. Esp. Starting a thread that he intends to keep on the first page with 'Christian' happenings.

I don't like religious threads myself but they are easy to spot and avoid.

Dont care for gun or car threads either but thats just cause they dont interest me.. They are also easy to avoid.

depends on who you ask.  ;)

Personaly, if seagoon wants to do a thread that promotes his religion, i couldn't care less.  It was nice (and responsible) of him to flag the thread as "Christian" for anyone not interested to avoid it.

If your faith (or lack of) is so easily challenged, maybe you should step back and re-examine it.

Funny, i thought the o'club was for anything off topic in relation to the game Aces High.  Maybe you should phone HT and let him know where he has gone wrong ;)

Personally, i enjoy the religion threads - as not being at all religious myself i find myself getting edumuhcated by them and take an interest in others' views.

I don't see anything in Seagoon's post which tries to "push it" on people.   In fact he gave the thread a very obvious title which makes it easily-avoided by people who don't wish to participate.

Why do you feel so threatened Hawklore?  I'm not trolling, either.  I really want to know why you feel this particular subject (as opposed to politics, cars, guns, etc) seems to be "too much" to allow on this BBS.

Hawklore no one is pushing their religion apon you.  That is your own misconception.  There is 1 thread out of many that is current that has anything to do with religion.

Seagoon has the right to post anything he wants (within the confines of the rules) just as you have the right not to read it.

If religion or Seagoon's posts offends you maybe you need to take stock of what is truley offensive.

The O'Club is for reasonable discussion of topics unrelated to Aces High in any direct way.  If the subject of Religion in general bothers you, dont read the threads.  This isnt a defense just of Christian threads.  Any religion is just as welcome to post threads like Seagoon's, so long as it stays a reasonable discussion.  I've seen several threads over the last few months from people who had valid questions regarding different aspects of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Paganism.  Not all of them were long, and some of them degenerated into shouting matches, but the questions raised were valid for discussion I think.  It was only tempers that got the better of the participants sometimes.

Again, if the subject bothers you, or you cant handle having your views challenged (not to mention your intellect), then dont read the thread.  You seem like a nice enough guy, for all the bashing you recieve.  Having been the brunt of alot of it, I'd think you'd understand that position and not start on someone else.  If there is something in one of Seagoon's posts that bothers you, why dont you answer to that, in the thread, instead of making a new thread and bashing him for sharing his views with us?  I happen to have alot of respect for him just for the fact that he's willing to state his beliefs out in the open and take criticism for it.  Even when it's not justified.  Like this thread.
