I'm not saying that's good or bad... it's your board to moderate. But this isn't some kind of innocent request or subtle change. It is a major change... for better or worse. Eventually people will come to terms with it.

I don't recall this attitude from you when you were banned from this board a couple of years ago. Did your behavior change after you were banned? Or did your style of posting change? Either way, you were allowed back on. So you may be right, maybe the banning changed your behavior.

I think its fair enough to bar people if they are simply abusing others online or typing obsenitys whatever, but should people be barred because they enjoy argument and hold strong opinions different to others? If your going to ban people some kind of decent explanation would maybe help. Particularly if your trying ,overtly or covertly to change behaviour. Otherwise how do you know what you've been barred for?

I 've seen the lines refering to such and such a rule has been broken but if you don't know how what you have said has contravened the rule how are you going to change? Actualy its a bit like working with people full stop. If you just say "no" or "don't do that" they might stop the behaviour infront of you or in a certain place but they still don't understand why. No learning has taken place. Explain why not and nine times out of ten the person will change their behaviour or at the very least they will have learnt something.

I'm glad Skuzzy mentioned that their HAVE been changes for the better around here... because there has. And maybe I'm getting lucky and not seeing most of the bad stuff but , except for a few instances, I really haven't seen much get through the Mods.

SkyD, we are not here to teach people how to act. Contrary to what MD would have you believe, we actually expect people to understand how to act in someone else's home. We have no desire to change anyone and do not expect anyone to change. We assume people have a bit of common sense, and a bit of respect before they enter the door.

Of course, there are those who have neither and they usually do not last long. They go other places to rant and rave how they were mistreated or how bad we are,...blah, blah, blah.

If you are not equipped in the basic social skills, as it pertains to entering someone's home, or public square, you should not be here. It is not asking nor requiring a change of behavior. It is expecting people to have the basic social interaction skills required to maintain a decent and civil conversation.

SkyD, what you want will never be available here. This place was exactly like you wanted it before the MP's moved in. All manner of hate and anger being spewed forth in virtually every thread. I see in your own posts the desire for that to continue, no matter how well worded they are.
Get over it.

Wouldn't be the first time they have moderated me and I am sure it will not be the last. It's ok though. I expect them to do what has been asked of them, regardless of who the poster is.

Try this skuzzy: The board was not good before. Something has.. um... what' that word... CHANGED.

Add rules, enforce them, whatever. The board has changed. You are not changing people. I never said you were. But you do expect people to shape up or ship out. If you can explain how that is not attempting to change behavior then I'd be very interested in the explanation.

I think thats a bit unfair. Realy. There are plenty of others in here who fit that description. But its not for me to point the finger at them. What is wrong with having an opinion and voicing it?

Isn't that what plenty of OC posters do? Yes I do differ on many things to people in here but hey we can't all be the same. I'm not carefully wording anything I'm merely stating what I think, usualy on a subject someone else initiated. Is that so bad? With respect I think you have been listening to the voice of others rather than forming an unbiased opinion. I do not attempt to spread hate and vitriol. How about going back and re reading some of my posts and responses to others. Yes I state my opinion and I stick to it, and its not maybe what some people will want to hear as I'm often critical of US and British policy but that isn't hate and vitriol. I wouldn't have posted this and I will say no more on this I only respond since you , sorry to say this, posted what I feel is an attack on me!!!! With respect

By the way my apologies for not reading every word I was generaly following the gist of the conversation and as others doing making a suggestion.

Sure the board has changed MD. It does not mean we want anyone to change thier behavior. People are who they are. Either they fit in, or they don't.

SkyD, you are rationalizing. There is a time and a place for opinions. Just because you have one, does not mean you should share it, particularly when it is abrasive.
People who believe they should be able to say anything on thier minds will generally find themselves being shown the door, especially when all they can say will always be disruptive to a discussion.

Keep that in mind. Oh, and your opinion about me being bias is just hateful, and abrasive. You have no idea what you are talking about. Just another example of how you try to rub people every way but the right way. Also a shining example of something that did not add to the discussion and would have been better left in your head.

It isnt much to act people to be civil. We can have very strong opinions and still keep the exchange rational, and that's all this BBS is asking.

There is a huge difference between having strong opinions and being a jerk. Gandhi was a great example -- rock solid convictions, implacable resolution, and civilized actions that shamed the "civilized" west into doing what was right all along.

Anybody who doesnt get the distinction between having strong beliefs and being rude, probably wont be able to adapt to the civilized rules of the BBS.

Skuzzy, I echo the earlier request -- please consider perma-banning the stubborn offenders rather than decommissioning the board.
