I do agree that a lot of younger kids have internet now which contributes also to the problem.

Yep.  I was 14 when I started AW3 back in August '98 (man, WISH I'd kept flying all these years :D ) and was pretty much your whiney score-potato, running, woulda-been-hoing-if-could brat.  Don't have many memories of the period that I can be especially proud of, whether they be of my flying style or my actions.

But, like you said, SuperDud, now I'm older and it's not as funny and I do find it more immature.  I figured out that generally if you're a nice fellow and don't rant and rave all the time and try to be encouraging or at the very least only swear to yourself at home, you won't have to be ashamed later on.  Not an angel, by any means, but certainly older and calmer :)

The problem is, there are a number of full grown adults who should know better than me who haven't learned these things yet.  Those are the sort of people who Filth's friend met - I can almost guarantee it.

Squeaky 14 yo voice swearing at you over game =
Mature, 30+ yo voice swearing at you over game =

Tell him not to give up Filth, maybe direct him to these threads and this board.  This game has too many great people playing to be cast off for the actions of a few.

In AW FR it was "ettiquette" to ask (your country man)before breaking into an ongoing fight........... was pretty standard. I barely ever see this in AH.

In AH your friend could have been chastised for..........

Interrupting combat (flew into)
Not helping his country man (exiting)

It seems to often come down to who (and how) one player wants to blame another for what ever the final outcome was.

Shaky is right too...........

You can turn off all vox, but not separate channels. If you want to use only text, go to setup/pref/voice, uncheck range beep, tunable beep, set playback volume to 0, and effects volume to 100. No vox whatsoever.

Then launch an MP3 player, I'd rather listen to Slipknot / 40 Below Summer angrly scream sh** than pay attention to the prepubecient yammering dork drama.

One topic you all magically missed on this discussion... well, maybe not, the booze is starting to take hold...

But I digress

Before you fly off the handle and lay a bunch of attitude on someone - Keep in mind that they probably came in from above you and you were somewhere down in their dash board.   They probably didn't even realize you were there and weren't intentionally stealing your shot.

I can't tell you how many times I've come in on a kill and then seen tracers passing me, looked back and it was a GREEN plane that I had jumped in on...  I break an apologize...

But, I'm not always going to know I did it.  And just as many times I've seen wings coming down into my cockpit.. I'm sure that guy never realized I was on this bogey.

In the end try to remember - Its about fun you stoopid pud!  Fun never involves chewing people out.  Just get the kills you can and thank the accidental kill stealers for the 'assist' and then calmly explain that you'd rather they ask if you need help before they shot your bogey.

I have actually used that line and it works "Gee PilotX, thanks for the assist, but I had it well under control, I'd really prefer if you ask me before you do that next time."

I get one of two responses... "Oh dude, I didn't know you were there!  Sorry!"

OR

"Eat #$%^@ you #$@!smoking loser"

Either way, I'm having fun and they know they jumped in.
