Getting started again
« on: August 24, 2005, 02:45:01 PM »
It's been several months off for me from the game.  Life has smoothed back out and am looking to start playing again.

New Computer.  Dell 9100.  3.2 gz processor and 1 gig of ram.
What vid card is recommended?  Most bang for the buck.  ATI or nvidia, model etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Any of the top line ATI or NVidia cards would be fine.  Quite frankly, both companies have cards that are CPU bound, no matter what CPU you have today.

Most bang for the buck ATI card would be the X800XL.  For NVidia, it would be the 6800GT (I believe).

you have pci-e? most new intels do, so try x700 pro. good bang for the buck at $200. (and the only pci-e card i've used so it's the only one i can speak for)
