Lan Play
« on: August 25, 2005, 06:26:10 AM »
I am trying to set up a Lan game with a friend. I connected the crossover cable to both machiens , which were recognized, then on one machine I went into H2H and made a host game, then my firend went to H2H and looked for my game but found nothing. We tried switching who was host but the other computer could never find the host game.
Am I being Nieve thinking it would be that simple, or should it be that simple as far as the game is concerned and the problem lies with the computers?
I would appreciate any help and advice,
thanks

should probably mention both computers are laptops, but can play the game normally.

Networking is a nightmare;)

Make sure both machines are in the same workgroup. If you are not connected to the internet, disable the firewalls on both. That is the most common cause of problems with LAN games.

Actually, try disabling firewalls first.

If all this fails try giving both PC's fixed IP addresses (168.192.1.1 and 168.192.1.2 for example)

Good luck
