Perk free jet?

How about the Gloster Meteor?

Might give the 262'ers summat to think about?

It came into service just enough to qualify for the general genre of this game.

Just a thought.

The only jet I can think of that should be perk free would be the p59...

But the meteor would be fun.

So everyone flys around in the perk free meteor and kills the poor, helpless prop planes without risk?

Ah dont know if that is better than costly 262s flying around... was the meteor that much worse than the 262? I doubt that.

I think the only unperked jet that should be considered would be the He 162

I'd say the Meteor Mk III would be a better arena fighter than the 262. While it was 50mph slower than the German jet, it was still faster than any prop fighter. It also had around half the wing loading and a better power loading than the 262, so it would be a much better dogfighter. Instead of those 30mm mortars you have four nose mounted hispanos with 195rpg. Then there's the really good over the nose view for deflection shooting and finally dive brakes to prevent overshoots.

Should be perked at least as high as the 262 IMO.

Please explain why the He162 should be free?  It seems to me that it should be perked at 100 to 150 points.

Meteor Mk III should be 150 to 200 points.

Meteor Mk I should be 50 to 150 points.

I would prefer the Meteor Mk III of those choices.

The Meteors have no place in the game the thing never even got a kill in combat. thats like saying that the jap. version of the Me262 should be in the game because the first test flight few 8 days before the A bomb was droped.

Even though it came really late I would think that the perk free plane should be the p80.

You are overstating your case here. The Kikka and other fighters that were not operational before WW2 ended obviously have no place in the MA. The Meteor had been operational since 1944. It never engaged an enemy fighter, but it shot down a few V-1s and flew numerous ground attack sorties.

If you want a reason to exclude it, you could say it was a rare aircraft that had no real effect on the outcome of WW2 and introducing it would be unbalancing in what is supposed to be a WW2 game/simulation.

I could see the he-162 being free if the problems associated with it were modeled in as well. Say random structural failures and flame outs. Would ad a bit of excitement to flying it. It should be limited to the same bases as the me-163.

Just FYI, the Nakajima "Kikka" jet-special attack plane (note it was not classified as a fighter) made its maiden flight on August 7, 1945.

Prior to the date, it had only tested on the ground including taxing, etc.

Also the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 (all time is Japanese standard time).

I have always enjoyed and learned a lot from detailed and well-researched post of Karnak.

p.s. Would you take just a few second to type additional keys as Japanese in stead of j**, please?  It is rather insulting anyway.
