Problem solved oops too late.

ahh yes the liberal answer to everything.  Throw enough money at it and it will be fixed.  :aok

so no one is shooting at anyone.  there's no violenxe?  The police and rescuers are just lazy?

Cmon Nash I've seen enough people though this thing at Bush and I think it's amazing that ONE single man caused a hurricane and a natural disaster.

I saw him being interviewed on gretta last night.  He found the keys in the school wich was destroyed and the thing had gass.  He just drove it out and picked more than 80 poeple up on the way.  They made three stops and everyone chipped in for gass.  The astrodome almost didn't let them in because they didn't know they were coming.  The guy is a hero.  He's also an example that somone doesnt have to use poverty as an excuse to act in an uncivil mannor.  Truely amazing

Egocentrism and gaping differences in lifestyles within the country. Those who had it good had it so good that they closed their eyes from the misfortunate.

Judging from many of the articles, this is a wakeup call for many.

Just a reminder,
Last year 15,000 (est) old people died in a heat wave in France.

I count about 196 buses in that picture...  How many people can one of those buses carry?

,  40? people

40x196=7,840

Maybe they didn't have enough time or warning to organize anything...

that's NOT what people who are blaming the president are saying.  People like Nash seem to think they had all the time to plan in the world and they knew EXACTLY what was going to happen.

I fail to see the connection with old people dying of age and having the majority of the black 65% of population living under the poverty line as one report from NO claimed. People who were so poor that they couldn't afford to buy gas even if they owned vehicles in order to escape.

Could it be so that you need so many guns because your country is having a quiet class war within. Poor minorities make the upper class feel very uneasy.

Krusher old people die to heat because they're old and their system can't handle the heat. The heat was therefore just one factor that hastened the process. I myself was a little surprised they even publicized the happening as it's natural for an old person to crash in difficult conditions. Young people who are not about to die did not die to heat.

I'm not exactly into the details of what happened in France and I'm sure something more could have been done by the government. But the fact remains that the ones who died were old and in bad health to begin with - they just needed a push.

Now please explain how that correlates to the class/racial differences that we were discussing about.

If the choices are that everyone has the same income by bringing the rich down and creating one income class or that poor people die when there is a disaster...

I vote for letting the poor die now and again.

The words of a truly greedy person. I guess you're not a very religious person either. Jesus taught people to share and take care of thy neighbour.

You can only hope that you'll never be misfortunate enough to end up on the streets.

I know I would have had an extremely hard time surviving a certain period of my life without support from the society. And now I'm a highly productive member of it instead of sucking crack and pushing a shopping cart.

perhaps.... but you do not know me.  I have probly helped more people in need than most folks...  I just don't believe that the government helping them is anyones interest in the long run.

better a few die once in a while than all die a slow death every day.

And... I have been as broke as they come and drug and booze addicted at the same time... that doesn't make it right for me to extort money from anyone.

Tell ya what Siaf...why don't you get Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson to explain why they no longer live in ghetto communities.

Ask middle-class and upper middle-class blacks why they're moving out instead of staying and trying to provide an example for underprivileged youth.

They'll tell you they left because of the drugs and the gang violence.

There is racism and division at work in those communities...but it is a two way street.

Government programs help the poor feed and clothe themselves and get medical care....but the unfortunate result has been the creation of a permanent dependent class....some of whose members have become grasping and demanding.

This is a fact that our idealistic elites have not come to terms with...and simply refuse to believe.

I agree with laz, I also preferr to "teach a man to fish", so to speak rather than giving it to him.

alot of these people are givin everything to them from the govt.  They do not know anything other than crime because they do not know how to help themselves.  When the govt can no longer help them they have no other recourse.  This is why I don't like socialism and govt handouts to people who can't/don't want to help themselves.

Notice I said people....not blacks.  The majority of these are blacks but that shouldn't make a difference.

Gunslinger: "All of those with magic eight balls that predicted this can say I told you so."

This has nothing to do with magic eight balls. This entire and exact eventuality has been war-gamed and played out to death. They knew this was gonna happen.

They did dick-all about it except to cut the funding to prevent it in favour of providing pork. Death and pork. Death or pork. Everyone loves bacon so you know how that fared.

Funding to the levy was halted for the first time in many years - everything was halted and slashed - and the people of New Orleans were fed to the dogs.

There is going to be hell to pay.

Exactly how much of Conn is built under sea level with few
means of access?  Seriously Nash, why don't you move south so
your whines would at least have some relevancy.

bash the Bush admin officially to your heart's delight.
