Digital stick and analog rudder pedals

I thought I'd pass on my solution to allow me to use my analog CH Pedals with my digital Saitek X45 stick.  I simply went to Radio Shack and purchased a $16.99 DB-15 to USB PC Game Port Adapter, part no. 26-164


I just simply connected the Game Port Adapter to my pedal's DB-15 connector and then connected the Game Port Adapter to my USB port.  No software was needed at all as Windoze recognized it just fine.  I just calibrated it and then started AH.  AH recognized the new controller but called it something like USB adapter.  In any case, I just pointed the rudder to that connection and to that z-axis.

Went offline to test it and it worked.

No muss, no fuss.

As a FYI, the Game Port Adapter has 4 configurations available to you, Game Pad, Joystick A (for a standard joystick or CH flightstick-mode joystick, Joystick B (for a joystick with a Thrustmaster hat switch, Wheel (for a racing wheel).

Thanks so much for this post and it's advice.  I went out last night and bought the adapter, hooked it up to my old CH pedals (sitting in my closet for almost two years now), and now I'm back with rudder pedals.  Wow, it feels good to use them again.

Do you know if this would work with the entire analog CH Pro setup?  The reason I bought my Saitek was because XP would no longer allow me to use my CH F16FighterStick, ProThrottle, and ProPedals.  All that money went to waste.  Wouldn't it be great to get all those buttons back again...

It might but if the instructions are correct, there are only 4 "types" of settings to choose from, the gamepad, standard stick, a Thrustmaster, and a wheel.

Now I think AH can recognize additional sticks, so theoretically, multiple sticks in AH would work.  Now concerning that adapter, I'm guessing that it's work for that setup too, but the input to AH would be limited to what the adapter allows.  Meaning, if the adapter on the standard stick setting allows for an x and y axis, and only two buttons (sorry, I can't recall exactly what it controlls off hand), then only those buttons and stick inputs would be sent to AH and all additional buttons would just be ignored.

That's my guess anyways.  Maybe check out the Thurstmaster setting...there may be more options there.

There are several folks here using Analog CH and XP with AH.  I don't know all the details, but I think you have to program your sticks on a WIN 98 machine or using a special boot disk.  I guess the programming is retained by the controllers.  Ask/search these forums or here-

I use all Analog CH equipment on my XP machine, and have for some time. Davenrino is right however, you must program your stick on a 98 machine, or using the special boot disk. If your stick is already programed, it may work right from the start. Im not sure how long the program would hold while the stick was laying in the bottom of a closet

My old sticks held the memory for over a couple years..

Just be really careful not to hit buttons as you boot up, if you hit the 3 throttle buttons I believe it clears the memory.
