Actually, I have to wear mine backwards because the camera is mounted on the wall behind me.  My monitor is 10' away.:D

For ultimate coolness ditch the trackhat and fly with a cigar or cigarette in your mouth.  TrackIR does track it, but not that well :aok

FWIW...here's my custom profile. A little slow with largish deadbands. I'll probably speed it up and tighten it up once I get more proficient with it.

My TIR3P will be here this Friday!

Looking forward to trying that bad boy out!

Also, whoever asked the question about the differences between the various versions, I think it comes down to image quality and frame rate.

The newer versions apparently do better at picking the image of the IR reflection out against background and have a higher update rate for grabbing the image, figuring out where the dot moved, and telling your sim/game that you moved. They discuss it at their website but it basically means smoother and more accurate panning.

What is this in the video settings of AH2? Just got trackir. I also noticed that profiles are in xml. Am i gonna have to manually convert from someone's tir file?

Just recieved my vector for my TrackIR. There are some glitches that may be solved either by adjustments to the profile numbers or in a new xml from HTC. I was amazed at how well the yaw and pitch improved especially to the rear. But if any combinations of x,y.z axis was applied things got problematic. I have been working alot with my combat profile and have it tweeked fairly well. What I don't like about the software is that I can't modify Aces High profile itself. I guess I can copy the combat profile to a AHcombat profile. Otherwise if I had other flight sims, all the combat profiles would be the same. It also doesn't do well in the latest version to allow for people to send each other profiles unless you take the time to enter it in XML format. No tir's anymore.

Rear View

When doing a lean or roll when looking in this view, everything acts backwards. In order to look at a left rear and lean or roll left view, you physically have to yaw right then lean left or roll left.(and visa-versa)

To get the best rear view you have to lean forward and then yaw left or right. This actually is correct when you think about it.

Side View

When trying to lean left or right and look down, it doesn't work. Again, physically in a chair you would lean right or left and then yaw left or right.

Many of the end points caused a jump to a view of the seat.

viking,

took me better than 3 months to get it right, heres some quick tips to shorten your learning curve.

1. Move the TIR at least 3 ft away closer to 4ft.

2. Make sure you have the vector clip ded nuts in the center of the view.

3.  To get optimal six views, lean forward and down slightly, and recenter your track IR. Then sit naturally, its a bit different point in each plane, but once you find  it you will get the best 6 views, and then be able to lean forward and down to see your sight when its time to pull the trigger.

4. If you use the track hat, cover the reflective tape up with somthing on the brim, or get a plain old baseball hat to use.

5. Dont fly too much, youll get frustrated and want to go back to the hat views.

Best of luck.

The vector clip has three reflectors on it. If the fourth one is visible it screws up the software. So with vector cover up the hat reflector or even better use a different hat.
The Aces High 2000 Con hat works great.
