soo.. are there less cars..

hmm personally I just got back from driving down Portland's I5 at about 98mph.  and you know what, it was an empty freeway, if I made a booboo it was just me involved. Now would I drive at 100mph when others(either in my car )or others, say an SUV full of Soccer kiddies?were in danger? No.

just the same as I and most responsible gun owners would not shoot unless we are sure of our backstop.

so back on your "meep-meep" scooter

lol, he cries for absolute freedom, but doesn't want women to vote. And is a city worker who denounces socialism. I would say that is about as hypocritical as it gets

A booboo huh?  Like hitting an on ramp sideways?

Had a police officer seen that would lazs have gotten a thumbs up, or would he have been ticketed for dangerous driving?

lazs calls people selfish when they litter city streets...but somehow driving like a 16 year old on a public highway is an expression of his freedom to have fun?

Tell that to a soccer mom whose child was killed by such lunatic behaviour...I'm sure they will be comforted.

I have actual tears running down my cheeks!

Yes... I am a law breaker and life taker and my fun is what is important to me...  but.... I do agree with curval the stern.... If I die hidiously in a car wreck I too hope that I am the only victim.

I am a socialist who bids for my job every year... tho I admit that there were no other bidders in some years... I seem to have beaten out most of em enough that they don't compete even any more.   I was 10% under budget last year.  And of course... all real men know that women shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Lot's of folk get killed in cars.  To bad..  I sure as hell don't want to get killed in a mini van tho if I gotta go.   Or some friggin moped.   And I got no idea of what it  would take for me to want to by a car based on how good I could use it in a parking lot not even moving.

I was within twenty miles of my home so no cop would have given me a ticket... where I work is where every sheriff, highway patrol and city cop for 20 miles uses for a shooting range... I have my guys manicure the areas and make sure that these guys have a place to shoot.... I drive my hot rods to work and tell the cops.... I don't care what else you do but you do NOT pull over one of these here cars.

I went by one the other day at over 120 and he couldn't catch me till I got to work and parked.   I gave him a ride.

beet... If you drive 80 mph on the freeways around here the soccer moms will run you over.... at the very least they will have a scowl and finger shaking attack on you that would make curval proud.

Today I am off.... I am gonna drive my hell camino to my brothers house and shoot a variety of firearms and then he is gonna take me to lunch cause it's my birthday.

One time my brother was helping me bolt in the seats on my Healey... we got the drivers side in and then he had to go... I told him I needed him to stay and help with the passenger seat.... he said "why?  no one is gonna be dumb enough to ride with you anyway."

People have been watching out for that magic gas price number that would seriously stunt demand. Many thought that $2.00/gal. would be it, but it didn't generate all that much change in behavior. I hear that $3.00/gal. had a dramatic impact on behavior. Perhaps that is the magic number -- but you would have to look at behavior over time after the initial emotional shock wore off.

To some extent gasoline demand is inelastic in that people are locked into automotive commuting to some degree. Behavior change will impact the people who choose not to take public transportation when they could, vehicle choice and vacation and casual driving.

Since I telecommute, and my wife has a company gas card -- I worry mainly about how much it costs me to cut my lawn :)

Gas costs

Huh! Try living in the UK - nearly $2 US  for a litre over here. Boo hoo. Brit Gallons aren't the same as US galons so I'm using litres. That way we can  all be confused together.;)

In another thread I made a mistake quoting the gas price here....I said it was now $6.50/gallon.

After getting gas yesterday I discovered my mistake....it's actually $6.50.litre.
