Umm I don't mean to sound like Captain Obvious here, but we all have had experiences with this fancy shmancy thing called the "Internet".  Anyone who uses an ISP has access to it, including whatever you put out there on it.  Just want to make it clear that we didn't "steal" anything or take it without permission, he posted it on the internet, maybe he should think about this before he posts anymore pictures on it.

Also, I'm not sure what is so bad about the picture.  Its actually not that bad once you fung shui the "I'm getting an anal probe" look.  

Just take it easy guys, I've heard that wearing foil on your head reduces your chances of getting a brain tumor

it's about etiquette.

Do you own the photo, or does it belong to xMarine?  Are you hosting it with his permission?  Make sure you even know who is the copyright holder first.

Second, we can agree that the image was in violation of copyright but falls within the fair use doctrine because it is parody.  Are you willing to go to court and spend all that money to find out if they agree?

Regardless, and contrary to how Lute seems to be reading it, this was far from a respectful request to remove anything.  Threatening a lawsuit based on your own shaky knowledge of copyright law does not seem like a wise first step.  Perhaps a PM to the parties in question would have been a far more suitable course of action all things considered.  Crying to the General Discussion crowd doesn't endear you to anyone.

In any event, the joke has run its course,  and I naturally expect that the images/avatars will disappear as a consequence.

first of all i couldnt pm as fast as the avatars were created. i seen it once earlier today.. then i seen more people use it. if the bks had a pm list i would have gladly pm'd them.  as for going to court, i dont intend to and not willing to.. that is why i call for respect for our squad materials..

In all seriousness, it was really just a joke like furball said. I nearly pissed myself when is saw that pic. If he did that to my pic i'd have the same reaction.
