So, with the new 109s being introduced, what's the difference between the G-10, G-14, and K?  I know the K had a different tail section, but was there a difference in the engine, climb rate, armament, and whatnot?

The new G-6 now has framed canopy instead of Erla Haube (see current G-6 canopy).

The G-14 is just a G-6 + MW-50 (water-methanol; WEP 10 on 5 min off). At emergency power, below FTH the G-14 will be faster then the current G-6. At normal power (100% no WEP) the G-14 and G-6 will be similar. Above FTH speeds should be similar. The current G-6 hs a top speed of around 388mph the4 G-14 should have top speed of around 410 or so. The G-14 will climb better on WEP below FTH.

The current AH G-10 is actually a K-4. The new K-4 will just get the correct name. Performance should be th same as the current G-10. I imagine the K-4 will lose the 2cm option.

Armament on all but the K-4 should be 2cm or 3cm. However, 3cm was rare on the G-6 and G-14, the by far majority were produced with 2cm.

Actually I heard that later G6s about 1/3 of all were given the 30mm, as one particular plant that produced a third of all G6s switched to only 30mm armament. So about 1/3 of the G6s had it. Somebody mentioned that on these forums (somewhere) a while back.

According to Butch:

Quote
G-6/U4
Produced 1943 : 181
01/1944 : 119
02/1944 : 51
03/1944 : 303
04/1944 : 404
05/1944 : 118
06/1944 : 144
07/1944 : 240
08/1944 : 49
09/1944 : 55
10/1944 : 14

Add all the G-6s with MK108s you don't get to 15% (12000 G-6s produced)

G-14/U4

Quote
G-14/U4
08/1944 : 59
09/1944 : 32
10/1944 : 228
11/1944 : 118
12/1944 : ????, 56
01/1945 : 11, 47
02/1945 : 2

About 5500 G-14s were produced(about 1000 of were G-14/AS).

The G-14 was (as the others) produced by Messerschmitt in Regensburg, Erla Maschinenwerke in Leipzig and Wiener Neustädter Flugzeugwerke.

The minority of G-14 production was built by WNF. Many of these G-14s had their MG 151/ 2cm replaced by a MK 108 3cm, which resulted in the designation G-14/U4.

No where near 1/3rd for either U4 variant.
