Its not hurting their sales though...I heard on AM radio driving into work yesterday that American car manufacturers had their lowest quarter in something like 20 years, while Toyota was up 23% in sales.

The answers' easy Funkypants, The Euros have all but priced themselves into higher brackets for their cars.   American quality control is now an oxymoron.

I work for Ford.  The UAW has killed the US Auto Industry.  The upcoming Delphi/UAW case will totally put things in their perspective places.

So many people that bought cars during the "employee pricing" craze this summer won't be a customer again for the next 3-5 years.  US sales will be flat for some time.

"Still can't figure out why anyone would buy an American or Euro car."

Sure, they might last a long time, but who wants to own one for a long time?  I pity someone stuck driving a Corolla or any Honda or such for any length of time.

They're good cars for what they're built for--running around in congested city traffic under the care of people who know little to nothing about cars and can't/won't provide much maintenance.  However, seeing as I don't live in a crowded city and I don't mind getting my hands dirty, I have no use for a cramped, uncomfortable, unsafe, stiff, flimsy, annoying little sardine can.

Actually, I have a single use for them...I'd rather hit an Accord than another Roadmaster.

On an entirely different note, does anyone else agree the term "sporty car" really just means "standard underpowered piece of junk with additional plastic molding so it appeals to women and stupid kids"?

simple, 1 fully grown man and his teenage son cant fit comfortable side by side in the front seat of them asian cars, or euro ones for that matter.

"Pickup trucks

Honda Ridgeline
Toyota Tundra"

what was the test?

I'm not sure what is American any more. My Nissan was designed by an American and built in Tennessee.

... but I digress. I'm with ya... I'm never going to buy another vehicle built by GM, Daimler Chrysler, or Ford.

seriously. If you want reliablity only go Japanese.
For fun, check out other manufactorers, that's not their strong side.

The difference in relibility is so small now, you are not going to have problems with any make or model  for the most part.

With a jap car you may have 1 major problem over the life of the car or none, with an american car you may have 1 or 2 or none of the life of the car.

It not much of a factor.

Nissan and Subaru are the only Japanes car makers that make interesting cars, the rest should be marketed to boring banker and acountants.

You guys do realize that quality is about the same across the board...and that all the companies are intermingled so much that no car can be called jap or american anymore.

They're all the same...and all get uglier every year..with a very few exceptions.

nope, when me and my dad both sit in the front seat of a euro or jap car, the driver cant use the shift without the others shoulder interfering.

Almost every rental car I have ridden in was an abused POS.

Not a great judge of how a car would be if someone who cared owned.
