Tell me, why "must" it be AMD. Pentium can be just as good or better at times. Just depends on who distributes what first and what equipment you have with it.

Well Jethro I can't speak for Xmarine.

But IMO AMD has dominated the market for the last 2 years.

Better processors with more speed, at lower costs.
Intell seems to be lagging farther and farther behind.

But, like I said thats just my opinion.

No offence intended for Intell fans.

Intel P4 mobile is better in Laptops.

AMD is good for gamers (in desktops)

The P4 mobile is a significantly better CPU than anything AMD has in the laptop market.

That said, there is not a laptop which could meet my performance expectations anywhere on the planet.  There are just too many sacrifices in the laptop design which hurt performance, favoring battery life.

My preference.

I did find a $4000 13lb mofo notebook; AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ (or FX57) with my choice of nVidia 7800 GTX, ATI X850 XT Platinum Edition. It's also got user upgradeable video & CPU... only problem is the cpus are in short supply and I'd have to wait.

I build sell towers so notebooks aint my gig, but $2400 for this monster a tv tuner. dsp heaphones and 50G MP3 player seems pretty decent to me.

you might want to look into getting that x700 swapped for a geforce GO 7800gtx if you want a true "godbox"

I didn't go as godbook as I thought I would, price was not as issue and that 13lb dual core beast looked good... but I think this Asus packs plenty of punch for the size.... plus I threw in a 50G Zen, custom paint job, backpack, tv tuner, DSP head phones along with maxed out RAM 2G DDR400 plus the Turion™64 2.2Ghz 1M cashe.. it wasn't even $2500 total..  the ibuypower cupon code knocked off 5% too.

Unfortuniately most of the godbooks with the bleeding edge graphics have Intel parts.

I already ordered it, Nov 11th is my ship date... I hate waiting.
