Ok we seen quite a few games now. What do yall think of the game now?

My 2 cents:

At first I did not like all the rules. I thought that it would create a game close to basketball with hardly any hitting or fights. But, right now I think it is a pretty close balance of hitting and scoring.

Disclaimer: Right now I am completly obsessed with the NHL. Ive always like hockey. But Ive never watched every game my hometeam plays. I also never followed the stats of our players. So new rules or old rules, I think Id like it alot right now either way. Also, tickets are cheaper then last seasons. About 20 bucks for a 200 level seats.

So far, I've watched every Kings game this year.

The new rules are making it difficult for the bigger, slower defensemen, but I suspect that they'll either adapt to the new game or go away.

Hell... Have you seen Rob Blake's numbers? The Avs were -8 with him on the ice last I checked.

The Av' will get better later on....i hope.  hey just have a lot of new guys but some really good veterans too.  I think the game is faster paced with less icing and such.

I love the game again... This is the way it is meant to be played.

The new rules fit my Sharks just fine. I really didn't want to watch another season dominated by Jacques Lemaire's trap.

The only thing that fits the Sharks properly are doggie collars.  And not the tough ones with the spikes either.  Maybe pretty pink ones with the bows like you see on Poodles.  Or maybe a Taco Bell collar for the mean ones, they are more like Chihuahuas.  Vicious little ankle biters.  Only dangerous if you lay down and leave your throat exposed.

I like everything except that the goaly can't play the puck outside of his trapaziod, and all the bs penalties getting called.

I'm betting the penalties ease up once everyone gets accustomed to the stricter enforcement of the rules.

If they'd only called the clutching/grabbbing/obstruction which they HAD rules for in the first place I don't think they would have needed the complete makeover.
Overall I like it though.

On Saturday, the Kings finally ended a game on a shootout. Personally, I'd like to see them go with sudden death overtime for as long as it takes, but shootouts probably take less time. The NHL has to consider their network costs.

I'm just happy that games cannot end in a tie.

What are the new rules that have been added for this year?
