AH v1.05 release is imminent

This release is going to happen very soon.

Pyro mentioned earlier that the release would be well into the fall and winter happens to begin in 6 days plus there has been very little of Hitech online these past few weeks.

From recent experience I believe we will be testing err umm playing 1.05 on or before December 25 or within the next ten days for those of you in Rio Linde!

I'm actually happy with 1.04. My first tour (the two week test period) I drove Panzers a lot because I found them to be much more interesting. I like to have a ground aspect and I wish there were hardcore tank corps still around. I only recently started flying fighters, and even that was frustrating because there isn't much help or teamwork for a newbie in the MA.

I've practiced a little, but since I started flying with hblair's Assassins my performence has increased dramatically. (last night, I bagged 3 straight in a 190, plus 2 assists - my best sortie ever) The changes to 1.05 will just screw me up more I think.. so, it's a double bladed sword. I'm still looking forward to it but I guess 1.04 is good for now.

(everyone is in the holiday spirit - demanding their 1.05 presants :-D Guess I'm the only one who doesn't want everything for xmas)

You make a very good point about learning the game and such.  The Main Arena can be pretty brutal.  

I know last night, I was vulched more than I have ever been.  I think I got frequent flyer miles going to heaven!  I was playing with Rook and there was a 4 hour battle at A5 that just kept going back and forth.  And dummy me kept trying like hell to roll a fighter out of there, even though 8 or more Knights were circling for cheap kills (hey, if the show were on the other foot, Id be doing the same, yelling for more ammo!)

I'm pretty suprised that there isnt another arena dedicated to more tank missions.  I've played the Scenarios and although they weren't bad overall, once you are dead, you are out for the game.

I've talked a lot of my friends into trying Aces High for the 2 week trial.  Many have liked it, but due to the cost, passed on playing it more.  Or, how difficult it was to get the hang of the airplane (biggest complain is the utter lack of speed in airplanes like the P-51, which most of my friends adore).

Hope you stay with it, I've been at it a year and finally have the hang of a few of the airplanes in here.  Some I still can't pry any speed from (like the P51) but we're learning more everyday.

Lack of speed in the Pony?  You are kidding right?  The AH Pony is fast.  It's realistically fast.  It also handles best at high speeds.

There are folks flying this game that know the what the real P51 was capable of.  Trust me, if it was even 5 mph slower than it should be, you would not be able to read this board without hearing about it.    AH has to have one of the most accurate flight models for the P-51 available anywhere.

Remember, speed does not mean accelleration.  The pony is fast, not quick.  It does not accellerate particularly well.  However, if you fly it properly and keep it above 250 Mph at all times, it can be almost untouchable.

P51 not fast??? I fly with 13th TAS and fly the 51 98% of the time.. believe me there is nothing in the arena the 51 can't outrun if flown right. As lephturn says.. the 51 is fast not quick.. so it does take a couple seconds to get your steam built up, but I usually find myslf tryin to slow down more than speed up since I'm usually screamin around at 400+ mph IAS

 I wonder if LePaul meant 'acceleration' of the P-51?   In either case the AH P-51 is pretty spot on in regards to both as it accelerated pretty bad unless the nose was pointed styraight down.

What I like about the 51 is the speed, but it's frustrating how some fighters always seem to be able to catch me while I'm extending. Pesky La5s or Yaks somehow. I think I'll stick with the LW stuff for now, get used to it, and try the USAAC stuff in a couple of weeks.

Every once in a while, I get really ticked  and that's when I'm in a chog :-) Think I had a streak of like 4 in that beast, but I didnt think it was fair to brag about..

you newbies, keep your planes trimmed and turn up the wind noise under your sound option, helps me keep a perspective on my E.

Also fly a lanc around awhile and everything will seem fast
