Is donut gone?
« on: November 16, 2005, 02:42:12 PM »
So is donut gone, or was that a troll?

how about HTC does a survey at login on map's..... players favorite, and least favorite map.

If Donut isn't the least liked, can we keep it?  I feel from talking to other players maps like Trinity/Equilibrium & Frac3 are disliked..... but that is just a feeling.

Maybe we could get a survey before Donut is trashed?

I reallly liked donut, and don't think I am alone.

HT, I have no idea what's between you and Cav, but you're post was so oblique that it left the Donut question open.

In many circumstances, you seem to let things play out with minimal intervention from on high -- but I'd appreciate at least knowing whether Cav's impressions about donut were correct.

If not, letting us know there's no foundation will squash this tempest in its teapot. If Donut is in jeapardy, discussion seems reasonable. If Donut's dead, then thsoe who like the map may prefer to play inthe backup MA while they can....but I think we'd like to know.

With respect,

Simaril

cav, if the donut map were to leave, it is because it creates sutch a rift between the different type of players.

In your comming in here saying the sky is falling, you will be exasterbating that issue, hence if anything you would be acctualy promoting the posible demise of the donut map.

Finaly Skuzzy does not make the dissions of what maps we use and do not use. There for skuzzy was not going to boot it. Nor would he have said he would be.

Because of a map?

Do you play? Under a shades posibly. I havent seen you in there prime time in god knows how long. Hitech In fact I can't remember the last time I've seen you flying amongst us when near 600 other players are on. Beta yes, but that was when we had 60 players in there on a good night.

Do you understand how and why this rift is there?

I dont think you do. I say that because I havent seen you in there on the real watermelon nights, when there isn't a single fight, only dead hangers, porked fields and mass of hordes avoiding one another to take as many bases as posible to win this reset. Resetting maps, dropping bombs, and winning wars. That's all that matters now in the MA. Atleast so it seems.

That rift is there because anyone who gave a watermelon about fighters is looked at now as useless, bully furballers for if they are not carrying bombs and dropping troops, they are of no use to the new Aces High.

This donut map, the one you're holding over our heads... Gave those who wanted to fight, a place to do so. And it let the ones who wanted to take bases and hord, and win this reset, do so.

And it was only 3 fields out of like 100.

Thanks for the information, HT.

Just a thought -- I've noticed that where possible, you let things work themselves out. I believe that was in the process of happening with donut during its short run. When the "war winners" took the central donut, others saw that as unfair and banded together to re-establish the equilibrium. In the same way, once the "war winners" got used to the idea of working with smaller capture teams on this one map, they might find the base capture process was actually easier. They would simply have changed tactics, maybe by abandoning a  small horde capture when they couldnt break defense, or by organizing multi-pronged missions to divide the response.

In any case, the AH crew is nothing if not adaptable and creative. Everybody would have found a way to get what they like from that map. We adapted to the new BBS rules, we can adjust to donut. Just my $0.02.

As for the rest of us -- I'd suggest we just let the issue lie, and see how things pan out. Its pretty clear that the last thing HTC wants from a map is conflict, so it would be unwise for us to stir some up.

I think I've seen this HiTech character flying once or twice. He seems to have some influence over what happens at HTC or so I'm told.

Oh once or twice? Wow.. how kind.  I've seen him on quite a bit, but not durring prime time with over 600 players on when the hordes are running full out. Maybe then he'd have a better uderstanding of how the hordes are.

Im not trying to tell him how to run his company. I couldnt care less.

He's going to tell me that a map is putting a rift between the players. Jesus, that rift has been there all alone, the same one for how many years.

So im going to call it bullchit.

I'm gonna use a really bad analogy here, but it's a image that came to mind reading this thread....

An image came to mind of those south african chaps who play with the great white sharks by grabbing their noses. Think if you may, HT is the great white shark and your hand is the donut map. If you keep annoying him, that hand is gonna be lost within due coarse. Let it go, just let the subject drop...:D
