Late '60s rocker dudes... remind me.
« on: December 25, 2001, 12:20:00 PM »
In the General Discussion "Christmas Presents" thread I mentioned that I got a portable MP3 player. Love it already.

Got to thinking though, it's been so long I may have forgotten some of the songs I really want to hear again.

So, if you remember those halcyon early days when we were driving the first Z28 Camaros, '67 GTO convertibles and such...

Tell me your three or four favorite songs from say... '65 to '71 or so. (After that... IMO.. rock started to nose dive. Seems like when the insurance companies raised the rates on Muscle Cars so high that Detroit basically neutered them rock music started to go kinda sissified too.  ;) Coincidence?

Thanks in advance!

Favorite driving songs from my mis-spent youth:

Doors, Break on Through
Steppenwolf, Born to be Wild
The Who, See Me, Feel Me (and so on) from Tommy

Had a shiny white Mustang Mach 1 with a Cleveland 351, life was good indeed.

I think the greatest Live album of our time is "Waiting for Columbus" by Little Feat.

Can't beat "Free Bird" for some guitar heaven.

Also live, Genesis "Seconds Out" wow!

enjoy!

My brother had a 69 Camaro SS

He had a 1966 Pontiac GTO

He also had a 1970 AAR Cuda.

Not all at the same time

You would not believe some of the cars that were parked in the driveway of my house in the late 60s and early 70s.  Simply incredible!     :)

I just made a CD with some of my favorite songs of that era.

Horse with No Name and Ventura Highway by America

Songs by the Grassroots, Guess Who, Tommy James and the Shondells,  Bread, The Hollies, BTO, The older BeeGees,  CCR.  Oh yea!!  Thoses were bands whoses songs were hammered into my head.

What about the total insturment group the Ventures???
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
