the engine is nice and all, but I'm impressed with that stand !!! That is a sweet piece of engineering !!

As for the clean shop.... I'd be afraid to walk in just to check it out for fear of leaving a foot print!!

Very nice, I'd give ya 5 stars !

Bodhi,

Question. As 90 % of the gas in the world for these engines is 100 LL, do they have ways by like using a mixing additive to make the 100LL the same properties or close to the anti detonation properties as the old 115/130?

Makes me think of when I was 18 working in a refurbish shop for planes and we had a Texan getting restored. The guy that owned it had a Mustang, and he flew it in to check how the work was progressing. Everyone was busy and I was saddled with the responsibility of guiding him up the tarmac to our shop.

What an honor that was, stuff like this makes you realize how great this particular era of men and machines were. That engine looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

Hajo,

It's a custom fixture I designed and fabricated to support the engine at close to ground level to allow us to build it up as though it was on the airframe.  It works easier this way as opposed to doing it on the airframe.  The fixture is made out of 4" 3/8 thick wall square tube with 10 guage diamond plate and the gussets are all 3/16" plate welded both sides.  The 8 castors which support the fixture are all 1200 lb a piece rated.  It also has two seperate scaffolds that attach to the side to get the tech 3 feet AGL to allow for easier access to the top.

Give us a shout in June, you know you are more than welcome for a visit.
