There is a red 'X'?

edit: you fixed the link... looks like the pilot is landing with the tower on the left/port side of his aircraft.

That is correct. A TBM is landing over the bow as the Essex, which is steaming full astern. At the time, all fleet carriers were equipped with bow arresting gear. Eventually, this gear was removed as it was obsolete in the jet age. However, as long as it was fitted to the ships, it had to be maintained and tested.

They used it too.
I finally got both "The First Team" books and they used it allmost right away I believe.

maybe a problem with the browser you use? Got the same problem when using my standard old opera version.
However, using IE, there was a empty box, and finally i managed to see the pic at last.
