Oh ya..........as if the Italians will find them.  They aready have been flown across Europe with Air America under the Europeans noses with full compliments of the Euro governments to the dismay of the great and caring euro population.

Ex-US Secretary of State Colin Powell has indicated that Europeans are being disingenuous when they deny knowledge of the rendition of terror suspects.

My 20 yr old niece is visiting europe with her boyfriend right now.  She says most europeans she meets treat her like crap once they realize she is american.

Its a shame, shes a good kid.  Getting one hell of an education in political science, thats for sure.

She went to visit her cousine who is an exchange student in Scottland.  From there she and her BF went to france and were in germany when we heard back that they were being treated pretty poorly by the people they were meeting.  She is a sweetheart and adorably cute so I doubt she is coming off as a typical fat ignorant american.  I guess they were planning on visiting a bunch of countries over there during the next 3 weeks.

I can confirm that it happens very often. I've witnessed it many times while travelling in Europe. But I think most people giving her that crap are not locals, but other travellers.

My experience of the French in France is that they treat everyone like crap when they find out you're an English speaker. I was treated rudely when I was there. They treat you like crap even when they visit your country. lol  Can't speak for Germany but have heard stories. You can't say 'most Europeans'.  She has only been in France and Germany. Did she say she was treated like crap in Scotland? I doubt it somehow. Europe is not a country but a continent of countries each with it's own culture and peoples.  The two mentioned have been historically noted as having an attitude problems to foreigners.

I hope she doesn't visit two countries and then come home with the impression that everyone in Europe hates Americans. There are 48 countries in Europe. Germany and France only represent themselves.

Yep the French are famous for treating non-french speakers with extreme arrogance. And that has nothing to do with being an American, I would get the same treatment european or not. The germans are also arrogant but so far I've met only nice people from there.

Send your niece in here and I'll show her a warm hearted welcome. :D
