My Second Wishlist
« on: December 24, 2005, 03:19:44 AM »
My last one was a bit vague, so here's my new one.

More of RAF Bomber Command: Short Stirling; Halifax etc.

More RAF Carrier-Based Fighter/Bombers:  Defiant; Sea Hurricane; Fulmar.

And a random miccelanious:  Mig-3; Spitfire Mk5 with Sand Filter; B-25 Mitchell; P-61 Black Widow.

Feel free to post you comments (not like I could stop you anyway)
:aok

Oh, and yes...I am aware that I have no idea how to spell "miccelanious".
:D

Miscellanious?

Just maybe you'll find a bomber under your tree tomorrow :)

Yup, wasn't vague at all this time.

I reckon the Defiant would be popular for two days then it would spend a life of solitude, locked forever in a hanger on the far end of the airfield. It was not a good plane. And to be of any use whatsoever,in the MA (or anywhere), it would be essential to have somebody manning the gun turret. Manning that turret would be an unpleasant experience, involving great frustration as you flick .303 rifle bullets at a cannon armed enemy who's sitting effortlessly on your tail, calmly taking aim, pressing the button and spraying you all over the plexi-glass.

The Fulmer would be destined for the same fate. The Stirling wouldn't be used either - it wasn't a good bomber, compared to the Lancaster or Halifax (and that's saying something, when you think of some of the early versions of Halifax) . A late model Halifax would be good though. I'd also like to see the Mitchel. Baracuda might be a good British addition to the carrier based list of aircraft on Aces High but the Griffon engined Fairey Firefly from the same company would be better. The MKIV with a 2100 horsepower RR Griffon 74 Which first flew in 1944, would be my WWII era choice but I seem to remember reading swomewhere that it didn't enter service until after the war so it'd most likely have to be the Firefly F1 with 1990 HP Rolls Royce Griffon, Four 20mm Cannon and either 8, 60 pound rockets or up to two 1000 pound bombs. The Firelfly saw action in the Pacific and flew alongside Gruman Avengers, attacking oil targets in Sumatra. It might be a useful addition to ship borne aircraft in Aces High and help balance the Carrier aircraft set.I've said it before but,
I still think we should have a Meteor. Fights between Meteors and 262s would be interesting indeed and loads of fun. Tense stuff, knowing that it cost an arm and a leg in perk points. A coastal command version of the B24, with four fixed 20mm Hispanos could offer some amusement. Some variants of Mosquito. Oh yeah, and we should really have a Beaufighter or two.

Fairey Swordfish! :D
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
