Kids were up at 3.30am opening the gifts we (Santa) leaves beside their beds....just one up the the rest are downstairs.

My wife spent the next two hours trying to keep them upstairs and away from the presents.

Basically our house has been up since then.

Fun...but MAN I'm tired.

Coffee....need coffeee.

I'm at work so my kids have to wait until I get home around 0800. lol

I can't wait to see the looks on their cute little faces when I tell them that I am too tired and they have to wait until after my nap. I'm joking of course, I can't wait to play with my son's stuff. lol

If we get another kid, im hoping its a boy so I get an excuse to play with Lego's and stuff again.

He would get Lego even if it wasnt on the list

Oh.. and trains.. lotsa electric Märklin trains!

Sorry..was early and I wasn't awake. Historically we leave one gift beside their beds so that when they wake up in the morning they think Santa has come all the way up to their rooms (after drinking his milk and giving the carrots to the reindeer, which the kids put by the fireplace).

This is the last year we will do this. Our oldest boy got up at 3.30am to go to the bathroom and found his gift. He then proceeded to wake up his brother and sister and pandemonium broke out.

Next year all the gifts will be downstairs and they will have to wait until the sun is up at least before they can go down.

Christmas is for the little ones but it sure is great when they are grown .. no more dawn awakenings only to have all the unwrapping over by 7am .... it was nice to sleep in this morning

When I was a kid, we had a family reunion Christmas and the was tree in a room that had french doors that closed it off from the rest of the house.

When morning came, Uncle Val had taken the doorknobs off and told all the kids that Santa must have stolen the doorknobs. Then he volunteered to see if he could locate some more while we all had breakfast.

After all the adults were ready Uncle Val finally located a set that would open the doors.

At 3AM local time (Central US) my oldest son came into our room after discovering that Santa had been by the house and then he woke his little brother. Fortunately we were able to get them both back to sleep for a couple of hours and the day started promptly at 6AM. Well after the presents known and surprises appeared we are sitting down to a good old fashioned Alabama christmas breakfast of sausage and hashbrown casserole that my wife makes. Then its off to get my sister and her boyfriend from the airport then another round of gifts.

lol...I mentioned this to my wife Holden...she laughed and said "based on your technical ability we'd never get the handles back on!!!" Unfortunately she's probably right.

Good idea though...we'll do something "like" that next year.

Reschke...dunno how you managed to get them back to sleep. We had a monitor on in their room and my youngest son was screaming (litterally) in excitement. No way I could stay asleep. Then the older boy came into my room and wriggled around like a fish out of water...too excited to sleep and too much movement to allow me to do so.

Oh well...lesson learned for next year.

Off to "Grampa's" place for a second round of toys in about an hour.

My wife gets pissed at me for playing with Ian's (4 years old son) Lego's. He'll keep feeding daddy Legos without asking. "Why don't you let Ian play with his Lego's". Meanwhile, Ian is screaming at "what daddy built!, etc"

My goal in life? To be "the cool Dad on the block".
