Is he left handed or is the picture mirrored?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Well, the words "Life Jacket" are not reversed, so he must be a lefty.

By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Your thinking of the DOUGLASS TBD DEVESTATOR - what the Torpedo Squadron's at Midway were flying when they were all about wiped out.

George W. Sr. flew a TBF AVENGER (like we have here in AH as the TBM) off the light carrier USS San Jacinto CVL-30.

Bush got shot down by flak along with some others, and was picked up by submarine. Some got captured by the Japanese and were later decapitated. "Flyboys" is the book.
I think he wasn't on Iwo, but am not sure, for he has ventured there since. Here, James Bradley and Bush on top of Mt. Suribachi:

i've read that ook twice now but i think its messed up his gunners bailed next to the islands and he kept control until he was a "safe" distance away from the aircraft. But what was more messed up ws when another pilot barrel rolled and his gunners bailed out but then he managed to regain control and land on the carrier. Now I find that messed up.

Bush was bombin a radio station on Chi Chi Jimma. makin his run he was hit by AA fire he ordered his gunners to bail out but they didnt and they died. after he landed in the ocean enemy gun boats were sent 2 pick him but a F6F strafed the boats and the sank. later a US sub picked him up and he was returend to Pearl Harbor
