2007 Skyline GT-R R35 (no it's not a ricer)
« on: December 30, 2005, 11:23:59 PM »
The GT-R R35 will make it to USA in 2007

Man we've been worshiping the SKYLINE  ever since we were playing Gran Turismo in Playstation.

http://www.motortrend.com/autoshows/112_05tokyo_nissan_skyline_gtr_gallery/index.html

You’re looking at 80 to 90 percent of the 2007 production GT-R, according to Nissan design chief Shiro Nakamura. We can’t tell you whether it will be sold in North America as the Nissan GT-R or the Infiniti GT-R, because Nissan brass claims it hasn’t decided. By now, fights ought to be breaking out between U.S. Nissan and Infiniti dealerships anxious to get this M3/Z06/Cayman/NSX/Lexus supercoupe-fighter in showrooms. We can end rumors that Nissan would slide in a 4.5-liter V-8 for North America and tell you that the United States get the same engine as the rest of the world. The engine we expect for the GT-R worldwide will be a highly tuned twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, powering the rear wheels. The GT-R Proto features a small break in the roofline aiding what Nakamura says is a very aerodynamic package. Its twin round taillamps help “express the heyday of the GT-R,” a car until now has not officially been sold outside of Japan. The ’08 model launching in late ’07 will be the first GT-R sold in left- as well as right-hand-drive versions. The Proto’s front end is a bit “conceptual,” which means it needs a real-world front bumper and headlamps, but this show car is a solid approximation of the reborn street legend coming to our shores.

Won't be the same without an inline 6 TT..
G35 never meant Skyline GTR, it was always a new Fairlady.

You guys DO realize this car will be AT LEAST $75,000 (GTR) right?

Karaya

PS - All I know is that the Current Skyline is rebadged under the G35.  I am intelligent enough to realize that it isn't a GTR.

Long live the RB.
Wish they had stuck with the straight six instead of the Renault V6.
I can still only dream of owning one though.
The Mine's R34 was unbelievable.

So?
The GTR always was a monster 4WD inline 6 TT.
The V6 is going to sound strange in it.

The Z was a cheaper FR.  The 350Z/G35 was the new Z, and it being rebadged as a Skyline is just bogus.. the Z and GTR factions in Nissan were always separate.
I'd add the GTR to Infiniti's lineup, and beef up the Nissan Z.

Hate to break it to you but it's most likely to get a version of their truck v8, naturally aspirated.

Some of the RWD NA Skylines are sweet too.  You can get a lot of revs out of those motors.

The G35 is NOT a Z. It is the Skyline.  Nothing more, nothing Less.  Don't *itch to me, *itch to Nissan/Infiniti.

Easily $75,000.  You guys, don't get me wrong, I love these cars, but now with Gran Turismo, comes insane prices to have these things sold here.  The Toyota 5000GT was to be the "new Supra".  The price on IT, was going to be $125,000.  Granted the thing was 500+ HP and a RWD.

The GT-R will easily fetch $75,000.  Why?  1.) Twin Turbo's (not the Audi POS TT).  2.) This things will be Race track ready.   You're almost better off trying to import the R33's and R34's.

Sheesh ..~100k for a hot rod datsun.

Sign of the times I guess.. even the 'vette is over 50k nowadays..
.. and will still give the datsun a good run, stock, beefed, or pro-street crazy ;)

That new 500+ hp 427ci small block intrigues me ;)
Wouldn't that be fun to stuff into a '64 Nova?

Heck even a '67-'69 Camaro would be fun to drive with that in it :)

Yanno what cracks me up .. chrysler's new Challenger's PR folks are worried about young drivers not bein able to handle the horsepower the car may offer if the so-called 'race hemi' is put in the R/T model!

BRING IT!!.

PUT the 700ci crate HEMI in it, a 6-71 on it, 2k CFM of air-fuel mix, a Dana in the back, and rear tubs big enough to stuff 14x32 slicks in, ya wacko's ..sheesh, do I gotta think of everything??

If ya get sideways at 75mph when ya punch it .. it's almost got enough horsepower!

(but .. that's just me)
