Some of the so called centre right are closer to extreme right and some of the left leaning are would hardly qualify as left leaning in any other continent. So the map is not that accurate.  South America was always a continent of contrasts.

You always get a left leaning tendency in any country where there are extremes of living standards. Countries with a small elite rich population with a small middle class and a mass of poor people will always be a rich recruiting ground for the communists. If you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. The solution is always to build up a strong middle class and lower middle class.

What we need is not  communism or fascism but middle classism!

In Brazil, death squads are known to have killed poor people, such as homeless children, in Brazilian cities, simply to get rid of these 'undesirables', or as a form of extrajudicial policing (police are known to have been involved in death squads).

Most every country on earth has started out poor. The commies just can't build a nation that is prosperous....even when they have all the natural resources anyone could ever dream of to work from.

I guess that's why you no longer live in commie-land, and have migrated to the USA, where you cry out against ideals of the country that allowed you to live here.
