Tank Acceleration Control
« on: January 02, 2006, 09:38:38 AM »
I Wish that Tank/Vehicle acceleration were controlled by the Throttle (slider axis), instead of the Pitch (Y Axis). Flying AC is enough wear and tear on our Joysticks. If we could control Vehicle acceleration with the Throttle, it would increase the longevity of our Hardware.

I'd like it too.

you know its kinda odd,  you can control the PT boat, use the throttle for engine control and use joystick and rudder for movement and change of direction,   I wonder why that isnt used for the vehicles.   Maybe it can be mapped?

I totally agree!   I have to say one more thing.  After a while of pushing up on the stick, its start to hurt my wrist then into my arm.

You do realize that once you get to top speed for the gear you're in, you don't need to hold the joystick forward to keep going...right?

i know its wear in tear on the hard ware but if you look at it, its actuakky realistic. Most of the vehicles in ww2 were driven and steered by tiller bars and/or Handle. actually our M-113's are using the old 2 handle system to go forward and steer while the new upgraded ones went to pedals and a yoke.

just my opinion

+1 to this.

Many times I've wanted to manipulate speed WHILE turning/operating the turret at the same time. If we're debating realism, wouldn't there be two people operating the tank? Since tanks in our game are single driver ops, it would make sense to have this feature, really for convenience sake.

Well seeing as this was asked for in 2006 by Mugz, I'm guessing it isn't on anyones "hurry up and do" list.
