Anyone else (not) see this?
« Reply #15 on: January 22, 2001, 11:30:00 AM »
I was sitting on a field with others onetime defending in an ostwind & goons appeared from no where & more than once. (maybe 10 days ago) Was parked by the map room & troops just started running in the room. It was strange to say the least.

I didn't report it as a bug though, just figured rooks were hacking or something.

Nimitz,

I will say that the rook who dropped the troops for A9 (thatguy) was not aware of the bug. It was a crummy way to get the field, I agree, but we're not the types who intentionally exploit bugs and screw you or your country. (that's what the sheep are for.)

All's fair in love and war...

dont point fingers til you hear this story at p42. I was tooling around with the squad at p42 as the knights were attacking. with about 4 goon kills under my belt here comes a goon at about 6k. My squad co swoops in for the kill as im on his 6 at about 2.0 i see the goon go boom but no troops. 2 minutes later P42 is captured by knights. and there isnt a enm plane in the sector.

Pointing fingers?  I am not meaning to point fingers at anyone.  I am sure there are pilots on all sides who are exploiting this bug, it just so happened that it was exploited against me by a rook.

I just want the bug fixed - thats all I ask

the invisible troops have been reported in the bug forum several times.

I do know that troops can be dropped some distance away from a field, (I won't say how far), and still stroll in and NOT be seen by anyone or anything even the AI aaa.
(from any vehicle, so it's easy to get close enuff and not be visible to the field).

It's been that way every since we got the little buggers.
If ya don't actually see them as the very 1st one jumps, you'll never see em..

Well....IMO, drunks should get rid of their icons. At all. It has no sense to have those neon boresights on each one of them's head. If you give a goon the chance to drop, expect the base to be captured sooner or later.

If a paratrooper drops near a field, he shold stay as out of sight as possible. Is it right to drop over enemy field shouting "here, here!!!  Shoot here!!"?. That's what Icons do right now

Cheers,

Pepe

A review of the "BUG REPORTS FORUM" shows no mention of it.  Why is it that people don't report those things there.. in the forum that was designed especially to highlight bugs... BEFORE squeaking about them here?

sheesh.

I've always seen them as far as I know. I have an idea of what you mean about being able to drop quite a ways out. I accidently dropped troops one time on the beta map about 5 miles from one of the VH bases in the canyons. I flew over the same area in a fighter about 10 min later and it looked like they were still trying to get to the base. If they ever did or not I don't know.

Yesterday it happened to me. I was patrolling at mid altitude over a burning base, away from the atention of the main action and trying to hide my own presence, when this C-47 comes very low. I bounced the goon, completely unaware of my presence at this moment, and man... did it blow up good. BOOM !!!!!
He had no time to land nor drop any drunks, but that base was captured just 20 secs after I killed him. I can affirm that no other planes nor vehicles were in thar area, only this goon.
Was really depressing.

Hehe, you guys are looking for black helicopters too right?  Many times I've captured fields by taking an M3 up to about 500 yards from the field, release them in a manner where they walk behind the Osties covering the field, and capture the field.  Can be done with goon too, but tougher to not be detected.
