Well I resolved my stuttering problem. Amazing what a reformat will do to clean things up.

The problem is during the time I was uninstalling and installing various drivers, using Driver Cleaner, reinstalling Direct X and lots of other trouble shooting techniques my system started locking up on me. It used to be just in Aces High but it has slipped into other programs, (BF2) and even locked up once when I was checking things in CMOS.

When I get home tonight I will make sure my fans are all running. If they are I will pull memory sticks and check those one at a time. Beyond that I don’t know what to check..

What should I check on a system that is locking up?

any overclocking? How about irq conflicts? Is there a situation where it seems more prone to lockups than others? What is the cpu temps? Have you adjusted the pagefile , or possibly are running without one? How are the power supply rail voltages in the bios, seem low or high? When you reset the cmos , its possible that the memory timmings are defaulted to an aggressive setting , make sure they are in spec with the ram , or back off the timmings alittle bit. There are alot of different things it could be but if the cpu temp is good , id look at the memory next , then the psu . Good luck , sorry this reply is all over the place , im medicated hehe 38

No over clocking. No conflicts. It seems to have corrected itself. Nothing I did that I know of. Last lock up was Tuesday.

Amazing how things work out. After Tuesday it started locking up again. Could hardly fly all week. Then other times it would let me fly without any problems at all. Friday Squad Ops for example was fine. Then Saturday it locked up about 6 times. I then swapped my Vid card 6600GT with my son’s 6600GT. These lock up problems started about the time I had purchased a 2nd 6600GT and put it in. I gave my son my old 6600GT. Anyway when I gave him the new Apollo card and took back my old one the locks upS stopped. At least it has not locked up since Sunday.

I can’t understand why it would not like the Apollo card, but prefer my old one. Both cards use the same drivers.

Ive seen that with vid cards befor .. same type of card but different manufactures .. they dont always use the same parts

If you turn off "Quick boot" in the bios your pc will test the Ram during boot . this also gives you time to see that the cpu is still clocked correctly . (mine steps down sometimes after a lockup)
