So after June 1944 are the allies going to gain bases on the mainland in approximation of the advance of the victorious allied army?

This might not be a bad idea. It wouldn't just help the Allies. It would also allow the LW guys to get their 262s, 163s, and TA-152s in the fight without flying completely across the map. I don't know if it's been considered or not.

It hasn't been considered yet - or at least I haven't noticed if it was, which might be possible too. :)

With some of the bases (no more than 5 or so?) that might work, but the BoB map doesn't extend that much into continental Europe to allow the full historical advance.

Well, we've still got a couple of weeks to discuss this (February 14th is scheduled to be June/July 1944).

I know you guys have to juggle the balance issue. If it doesn't throw the arena out of whack it might be a good thing. If it would mean the Axis couldn't get airborne without fighting through a vulchfest, I'd just leave the map as it is. There are probably going to be a lot good questions you guys can't answer until we've seen an RPS run through completely.

Switch to Rhine, maybe? To show the move onto the continent?

Panzzer,

Is the BIG ETO map available for the AvA?

If so an option might be to shift over to it at the date the Allies would have established themselves on the continent. Would help the Axis more in giving them more depth for defense.

Would also give more options for a ground war - that might attract more players and give another dimentions to the set-up.

No, I don't think there's an AH2-version of the big ETO map available.

We used to have a France map which fit into the mold really well for June-44 onward.  We WILL switch to the Rhine map as this map outlives it's current life (probably Sept-44 when Allied forces moved further into France.

Or someone could convert the old France map... ;)

Then why did AH go to the trouble of making all those vehicles.

Sorry Krusty, that Dog just won't hunt. Not everyone likes to "Furball" between two fields set one map square apart. It's the AvA arena - not  "Krusty's Crib."

Many people like to fight in the vehicles as a change of pace.
As long as it is kept in a "Historical" theme - I don't see a problem with the ground war. The CT Staff can reset the lines for any late night proking done or simply set the paramaters for field capture high enough where it takes a major effort to take a field.

Yea, was just kidding myself. ;)  "Krusty's Crib" isn't bad but "Jester's Joint" sounds much better.  :D
