unable to open progam

I'm a long time player of AH but recently when I tried to open the program I get the "Aceshigh.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Do you wish to send error report" etc.etc. I have tried a system restore, reloading the program from scratch(after a complete deletion) and tried to start the game from the HTC folder. I am sure this is not a hardware problem as I have played the game for 3 years with no issues and nothing new has been installed. AH is the only program that has the problem. Anyone have any thoughts?

Typically it is the video card driver causing this.  Check your driver.  It is not always best to use the latest driver for a video card either.

If you have an NVidia FX5000 series, or earlier, then use the 61.77 version drivers.  If you have an NVidia FX6000 series, or later, then use the latest driver from NVidia (http://www.nvidia.com).

If you have an ATI 9000 series, or earlier, use the Catalyst 4.12 drivers.  If the ATI card is a later version, you can try the latest release.
