A6M death!
« on: January 31, 2006, 01:21:48 AM »
ne1 else ever do this?

check this out, I was fightin in a hurri 2C and after a while looked down an saw I only had 8 BULLETS remaining. A short while later a zero shows up ( i have 5 vics already but feel i can get 1 more with these 8 rounds).

Zero decides to go head-on wit me, i am picky about my shot and tap the trigger. I see a single sprite in the center of zero's nose and break to keep from further allowing him to shoot at me, i look back and he explodes. ( YOU SHOT DOWN PWND A6M).......looked down an saw i had 7 BULLETS LEFT!

yup I am good hehe

might be lucky hit.
might also be that he collided with you, i found the collision messages dont always come and its quite possible in a ho pass

hitting with one round is very possible. in 30mm loaded planes i only ever lob one shell at a time.

infact last month i looked at my tempest's ammo counter and saw 2 rounds in one, and 1 in another. went for one more pass on a 109E, waited till 20 yrds on a crossing shot right into his canopy, squeezed the rounds off with not even a sound of guins firing or a tracer, and he went boom.

i dont doubt your story at all bagrat, you're a fine pilot and have shot me down with seemingly imposible chances in the past. I doubt it was a collision knowing bagrat.

even with one round, you're still a HO dweeb for taking the shot :D
400 yrds on my tail, right where i want you... [/size]

man, those a6ms have no armour. you hit em anywhere in the fuselage and they burn or blow. i remember flying about in a spit 1 for jokes a few months back, got long distance pings on a zero, and the thing blew up straight away, after only a few pings, everywhere on the fuselage. if you dont want to die, you dont fly a zero lol

The A6M pilot was an idiot to HO you.  He should have just out amnuvered and killed you, something the A5M is well capable of doing to a Hurri.

And you got somewhat lucky at least.  I remember ending up in an HO with an F4U-1C while flying the A6M5b.  Hit hit mew with two or three rounds and I hit him with a like number.  I got an oil leak, he lost his engine.

its not messed up. he put a hispano cannon round in him, far more powerful than german guns historically, into a weak part of a plane with no armour. nothing to do with over modelling, it was about luck. in real life, 20mm's did FAR more damage than they do in here. you saw the p38 cannon test right?? that was an old gun, and wouldn't be firing at proper power, yet it tore a steel cylinder to shreds. just imaging that hitting very thin aluminium skin, and going into one of the very vulnerable jap fuel tanks. its not over modelled at all

The only thing that causes a plane to explode in AH is when the pilot dies.  He got the pilot.

Bah, I'd say the LW planes are fine.  Its the pilots that suffer from lack of oxigen from flying 30K above everyone else and the panishing G forces from diving in at 500mph that causes the problems.

In some cases, the effects to the virtual pilots, are permanent   :D

i remember killing Bug's P-38 with the single hispano round i had remaining in a tempest as he was capping the base i was rtbing to, possibly the luckiest shot i have had in AH,  i let him break right to get a bigger target, fired and the cannon round flew straight into the canopy.
