What a sorry state of affairs

Ricky Martin sings at the Presidential Inaugeration party.

Where is this country heading where a guy who sings in Spanish is invited to play at a party that is all about being American.

Same with that other idiot a couple years ago. Doing the Macarena. WTF?

I expect Maynard from Tool to make the next declaration of war.

It will be good.

Midnight, I think I'm misunderstanding your post.  Are you saying people who speak Spanish aren't or shouldn't be Americans?!

No. I am saying that in America, where the national language used to, and is still supposed to be English, it is pretty sorry that a foreign language is used during an event that is all about being American.

A whole other topic was that George had campaign ads spoken in Spanish. WTF is that? I thought that on order to vote in this country, you had to be a citizen. Is it not a requirement that in order to be a citizen, you have to be able to speak/read/write the national language?

I don't mind the accomodation of using foreign languages for tourists and new arrivals to the country, but for everyday citizens? Outrage.

Actually we do. It's a drunken slur of american and jibberish. Only fellow drunkards from america can make any sense of it.

It can't be written either, as you know how people write when their drunk.

Well, I just hate Ricky Martin.

If they had someone like Carlos Santana on the other hand...I would have actually paid attention.

[edit PS: We have no official language.  A few states have tried to pass ammendments making English their state language, but to my knowledge none have passed]

The United States has no official language.

English (or something resembling it ) is, of course, the most commonly spoken language in the USA.

I don't like Ricky Martin though.

Karnak is correct, USA tradition is English    However as you can see we no longer honor tradition in the USA as in the past

So ya can speak any lingo ya want, partner(this is cowboyeese)

But if you want to be understood in the USA it is a good idea to have a working knowlege of english.

Well, he can be all the gay you want...but I'm sure you'll never see 0.0001% of the girls turned on with you as they turn on with him.

Note that I hate him (And I hate Chayanne much more, BTW). I simply say that 95% of the girls I know say that Ricky Martin is worth a good ride. And I dont think they are talking 'bout horses

The only problem with Madonna is that she has bugs on her lower extremities that makes penicillin grow legs and run away with fear!
