Dead is right you fools.  The British soldiers should have shown the same kind of restraint that the more professional Chinese soldiers did when confronted by the violent protesters in Tiananmen Square.

By the way Dead, what was the body count in that incident?

so if teens here throw rocks at police we should disband our police force?

Who knows why they did it... their dad said to.... they didn't like the curfew... one of their buddies got arrested for stealing.... they are acting like kids... or.....

They have deep and well thought out political convictions and are throwing the rocks to sent a message to the few people like dead who are perceptive enough to see it.

I was just thinking that. Actually, the pro-democracy protests themselves only turned violent after the PLA rolled tanks into the square. The death toll was anywhere between 500 and 5000, we'll never be able to get an exact number.

But of course, that was just the Chinese government cracking down on "criminals and agitators" in its own state, if you want to see how they deal with protestors in occupied territories you'd have to look at say Tibet. For instance from Amnesty International:

Police shot and killed participants in a peaceful demonstration held in the Barkor and on the public square in front of the Jokhang temple on 10 December 1988 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the promulgation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Personally, while I'm disgusted by the sadistic voice over and not in favor of any kind of extra-judicial arbitrary punishment, I believe that most of the Iraqi youths in question "demonstrating" against the occupation would have preferred the British reaction to the Chinese one.

if you look closely, near the end of the film, one of the soldiers takes a good hard kick at the groin of one of the youths.


this, imo, is just outrageous. infertility could come of that, and then you've got another willing suicide bomber in the making.


the other bit that was out of order was the 'headbutt' (more like helmet butt) right near the begining. that was sick.

Kinda takes your mind off all of last weeks riots doesn't it. Do you think if they would have made a cartoon out of it, instead of showing the actual beating there would be more outrage?

While it's not Outrageous Batfink, it's definately not tolerable.  Many people will ask for the heads of these soldiers on plates.  At most I believe the person who did the kicking should get a Letter of Discipline, no more.

I still think this is a much-a-doo about nothing.
None of those kids was hurt. They were throwing rocks the size of bricks and got chased and got caught.

How many of us didn't get chased and caught at that age?

I've seen about eight of them, and they are disgusting.

They make these little editorial cartoons about Muslims seem like Charlie Brown vs Herman in a knock-down drag-out battle of checkers by comparison.

I'd dearly love to see the comments by those who say "So a few Torrans got flushed down the toilet" or "I've seen worse in fraternity hazing."

Whatever the abuse was they should put it on TV. Followed by a comment stating."We feel our light handed tactics as displayed here have been a failure.  Because of these failures we must now kidnap, behead, burn, raze, and use chemical weapons against the people opposed to our efforts."
