Hmm wouldn't be suprised if this guy is still in jail for his crime...

Would that he were. The man was identified as Wang Weilin, student protestor. He is in all likelihood, very, very dead. A fellow by the name of Andrew Ho wrote the following eulogy for him:

"I will never be able to meet Wang Weilin; although there are no official reports on his current whereabouts, and even his real name is uncertain, unofficial leaks point to his execution by firing squad a few months  following the June 1989 massacre. Without recognition, his life passed from the pages of history like a soldier slain and immediately forgotten. His death, as well as his life, is a sobering reminder of how much courage is required from us all as we journey onwards in what will always remain an imperfect world striving painfully for perfection. Wang Weilin is one person who displayed that courage beautifully when it was required from him; it is on the shoulders of people like him that the future rests. It can only be hoped that there are many among us who can display a similar courage when our own testing times come."

An American reporter at the scene, Charlie Cole,  witnessed his arrest by the PSB immediately after the confrontation with the tanks.

Methinks Mr. Weilin might have preferred a swift kick in the groin...

Always interesting to see a pastor defend violence against defenseless detainees. How very Christian of you.

It makes perfect sense harry when the other alternative is being executed. Don't try to skew what he typed. He's just saying that getting beat by a stick is much better than a bullet to the head for protesting:aok There's nothing that seagoon wrote that says he supports it. Me personnally, I'm glad they got the crud kicked out of them. If I threw rocks at a military force I'd expect an arse whoopin, if not worse.

I find it interesting that CNN has found yet aNOTHER angle to beat Abu Ghraib to death (and thus allied soldiers), but has no space for the Muhommad cartoon photo

You cannot even compare this photograph to the British spankings.   No way.  This is one of the most powerful pictures ever taken, bar none.  The Driver of the tank is rumored to have been killed as well.
