Checking the roster last night, I think the main reason for the bizarre numbers imbalance was the appearance of several Allied squadrons.  Folks, this is a Very Good Thing.  One of the factors I've always believed held this arena back was that people want to fly with their squadrons, and their squadrons fly in the MA.  Getting them in here is worth putting up with some ganging.

To the squadron folks:  Thank you very much for coming into AvA.  Possibly some of you can cross-train on Axis planes, so that when the numbers are like they are last night, you can all agree to grab your favorite leather ride.  Just a suggestion, I'm not terribly knowledgeable on how squadrons work.  Anyway, it was good to see the participation.

I agree!  Id love to see squad come in here and play. It also alot of fun to fight against squadmates.

On another note Oldman...with the coming of the new map, I had a question. Is it possible to see how many of each aircraft type are lost in an arena?  If so, could that be used in future campaigns, to show the losses, and perhaps deplete pools of aircraft?

It's kind of hard to entice others to go help the very people that insult them constantly on these boards, or channel 200.
Besides the Allies are a bunch of no skill weenies, who can't get organized.;)

I think the fact that numbers are 41-14 and all the ducksford beagles are on the side with 41 illustrates, justifies and reinforces the insults.

Well, that exchange pretty much solidified me as an Allied flier.

The 4th FG Debden Eagles were there last night too, escorting the 78th in an airfield strike.

Oldman, we will continue to do missions in the AvA arena and will encourage our members to fly here as much as possible.  However as to switching sides, I have done so on occasion here.  And I must say that I prefer to fly and die as Allies rather than fly with the Axis who were clannish and more concerned with climbing to altitude and getting 2 or 3 on 1s than assisting someone with 2 or 3 on them.

The 4th FG is obviously an Allied squadron and we will continue to fly as allies.  It seems to me that the Axis would be better served in getting organized and gaining more squadrons on their roster rather than proving once again that JG54 has less class than the elementary schools they are obviously still attending.

Honestly Kong. I had no idea there was that kind of numbers difference last night. I logged on around 9:55 EST , and there were red dots all over the map. We had a missionarrangement with the 4th FG. jester had set it up but could not fly due to a family emergency. So I was scrambling to put something together since the 4th was ready to go, and the 78th was in the dark. I usually keep chnl 200 squelched , so if there was anything said about it there I wouldn't have seen it.

There was no shortage of LW on the first mission we flew. We were harrassed by 262s, and 109s well behind the front as we flew to the target. Our last two missions were also met with LW planes able to make runs on us as we were climbing out of our base. I have no idea when the big numbers disparity took place.

I don't get to fly as much as I like. Some of you have the luxury of spending a couple of hours here every night. Tuesdays , and Thursdays , are when I get to spend my time flying. Then it's usually  an hour and a half max. So to be honest JG54s enjoyment is not high on my list of priorities.

Heh.  Shifty, it's surprising to find that you are such a warm and sensitive geezer after all!

I suggest it shouldn't be looked at as "helping" any side, or any group of people on that side (or even any single person on that side).  There can't be a lot of fun in flying a 3 v 1 - this is a way to improve your own experiences!

I lost the wallet , some little girl stole it while I was painting my nails.:furious

I know your yanking my chain. I know I wouldn't want to be one of the 14 facing 41 as well.  If I get a chance to fly and it's not a squad time I'll swap if the numbers are out of whack. I did it Sunday afternoon.  I don't check the numbers much. Usually the Axis are aggressive and flying into Allied airspace, so it never occurs to me theres a balance problem. If I have to hunt for a fight  , thats when I notice the sides are out of whack.

OM I agree except on squad nights. If it's squadnight for JG54 and they got a numbers advantage. No way in hell do I expect them to send over N7, or Kong , or Wildesau to help us.  It's their squadnight to do their LW thing. Thats what squadnight is for. Same for us.

The balance issue can also be affected by the "I have to fly the side with the best plane crowd", as much as any squadron. Look and see who was over with the axis flying 109s, and  110s during the early days of this setup, and are now over flying late model spits every day. Or who was flying pick whatever uber allied plane you wish, and now can be found zipping around in a 262............You might want to start a thread informing those guys about the fun of flying a plane that's more of a challenge. That could also help bring balance to the arena.

To be honest though. You really can't blame anybody for what they fly. Or what side they fly for , or why they fly for that side, or that ride. It's their business , and their money.  God I can't believe how much time I've wasted typing all this dribble.:huh

Tuesdays, and Thursdays the 78th FG will be Allied. Any other day I'll do what I can. There thats better already.
:)
