The trouble with Bond films is that they have forgotten that back in the 1960s there were not that many films about spies doing all kinds of exciting stuff with weird gadgets vs some super villian. Since then there have been literally 100s of TV shows and movies, practically 1/2 of them are all about some sort of super dude doing something similar.

...Yet they still persist with the same formulae, it isnt new and exciting any more its "just another movie with a car chase and gunplay, and a girl with nice breasts" ZZZZZZZZZ...I can get soft porn on regular TV, racier stuff than any Bond movie will have, they need to grow up.

They need to go back and revamp the whole thing, make it stand out. My suggestion would be to back away from all the gadgets, and base it much more on "real life", and have it much more character driven. That or the series will continue to lose the audience.

"The Bourne Identity" and  "Ronin" are the kind of direction I would take, more like that, and less like "Mission Impossible" (which wasnt too bad, and was more interesting than most Bond films, but not great).

They look way too much like Star Wars movies right now, and practically the ONLY peice of kit Bond hasnt got yet is a lightsabre, but im sure that will be next...

Exactly.

The thought I had the other day: we're living in a James Bond world.  We have our industrial supervillain (bin Laden) with a secret organization all over the world (al Quada) with military commandos doing strikes against the enemy henchmen (10th Mountain and Spec Forces in Afghanistan, US military in Iraq).  We have hi-tech gadgets (robots, UAVs, satty's, body armor, night-vision goggles) and international hotties (Saddam's niece, sorta).

They could have the gadgets and it would still be "real life", just tweaked a little bit.

What Bond really needs is a good mystery, without relying on the guns, women, and stunts to pull off the movie experience.

She was very hot in Kingdom of Heaven if you ask me. Much better than Halle Berry.

"we're living in a James Bond world. We have our industrial supervillain (bin Laden) with a secret organization all over the world (al Quada)"

Actaually I thought of that before, its odd how we really do have an international organisation that deals in terror, but instead of SPECTRE its al Quada.

Now all Bin Laden needs is a "mini me" and a n-bomb from Iran, he already has a cave I guess, so he's all set.

But ya, I find the Austin Powers movies to be more fun to watch than actual Bond films, they need to give it over to a much better director. Maybe Spielberg could remake it? Anything would be an improvement.

Its like say, the Arthurian Legend, its been told many times, but you dont have to tell it the exact same way. Have some artisitic license and tell it in a different way, and dont be a slave to the past. No, he doesnt have to say "Bond...James Bond" just because Ian Flemming wrote "Thunderball" that way, but dollars to donuts, the next fim will have a scene JUST like that, and it will look just as contrived, and silly.
