Very sad Winchester shut down
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:52:17 AM »
Winchester plant slated to close on friday unless a buyer is found. Its hard to imagine the plant going from 19,000 to under 200 employees. Now it looks like it might actually shut down. Its already sickening that they have plants in japan. Now to close down the old New Haven plant, would be the final kick in the balls.

Mexico, Japan, India just to name a few... Send it all out then ship it back in. Makes me sick to my stomach. Sick.

Here's a write up on the ordeal.

US Rep Arms shut down.

Its nice when people can make light of job losses and people being put out of work. Especially those people who have families to support. I guess being a smart bellybutton is more important.

winchester is no longer making the 50 year old model 70 or the 100 year old model 94 or the outdated pump shotgun 1300..

don't worry tho beet... you should still be able to find a winchester at your local sporting goods store.   Oh.... wait.... nevermind...  your government does't think you are good enough to have a gun...

Maybe, just maybe a last minute deal will be reached. It`s happened before.
I`d hate to see a big chunk of history and tradition just go down the drain.
My Dad traded for a Winchester saddle gun when I was a kid and it became mine. Was something about the feel of that .....thuty/thuty. :)  I ended up trading it off after I had I had been married for a few years because I got into benchrest and varmint hunting and just didn`t shoot it anymore. Stupid move on my part.I`ve regreted that ever since.

They just moved production off shore, better for the stockholders, to hell with the employees they were paid too much, they can all get jobs at walmart and be paid what they are worth.

Beet, on two separate occasions, the sound of a shell being jacked into the chamber of a pump shotgun has kept someone from breaking in on my wife when I wasn't home.

While I'm aware that this may be a subjective judgement on my part, as far as I'm concerned a shotgun saved the life of my wife on those occasions.  (Although it was a Remington...not a Winchester.)

Besides, how many lives were snuffed out by Winchester Model 70 Featherweights...or single shot .22s...
