what do u all think of the addition of something like the P-51A as a new aircraft an earlier american fighter  something more challenging than the B and the D but better than the p-40's ?????

Nice suggestion wasp.

The P51a i believe had an allision engine and was  fast on the deck.

Brits used it and it had 4 x 20mm  cannon.

p51a had a weak engine and didnt perform like the mustangs we know at all. the ponies have just been redone, so i think there is little chance of us seeing this

P-51 and P-51A were Allison engined and thus did not have the high alt performance of later models. At lower alt I don't think we would see a ton of difference between the "A" and "B". However, a cannon armed P-51 would be a blast (no pun intended)

i would love to see another pony, espc one armed with 4 hizookas :D can you imagine the fine whine that would ensue?
Lets looks at it on paper, the Mustang Mk1a (with 4 hizookas) has the alli engine but was supposed to a very good low-alt performer, but prob not really as good as the B or D on the deck and certainly a lot worse above 5k. But it would prob still be as fast as the F4u-1C (which is perked) on the deck and prob climb-rate/acceleration would be similar to it down on the deck. I expect it prob wouldnt turn as well as the cHog tho? So prob not perkable.

You kidding? Guaranteed a cannon-armed Pony would put a quick end to any gripes about overuse of the LGay7 and Spit XVI. I mean, Runstang dweebs are bad enough already, but to give them CANNON, too?

Dweeb or non dweeb, I support a plane's introduction based on its significance.

I don't think the P-51A can be considered anything 'significant'.

Me 262 was significant as the first operational jet. We don't have 162.

If you put a 4 cannon P-51A in AH you would have to perk it.

Take a look at the performance.

360MPH at sealevel, 390MPH at 10K.

No kidding. Like I said above, Timid Runstang dweebs with 6 .50 cal are bad enough as it is. But giving them cannon?
