Alabama Teacher This Time!
« on: April 13, 2006, 08:34:40 AM »
Is this a sign of  Liberal Desperation or Frustration or Both? First we have the nut job Geography Teacher from Colorado who everyone on the left side made excuses for after he gets caught lecturing his students on politics with a major league Anti-Bush twist – “His lecture (Nothing but an invective partisan political rant) was geared on world geography and how politics affects borders.” Etc etc. Nothing more than Liberal Spin! I really thought that teacher’s nation wide would have learned the lesson from this – Teach your topic and keep your political opinions in your pants – but shame on me, I forget liberals are arrogant too. Check out this genius from Alabama – and to boot a SCIENCE Teacher – so what does politics have to do with a High School Science Lecture? And to add salt to the wound – if you saw the video (Which was on Hannity and Colmes last night – Colmes agreed too that he should be fired) it was by far – pure liberal hatred for Bush and his administration with the world “%$#HOLE” on every other slide. Very professional- very. Just one more pinch of salt – This teacher is running for state legislature. Very interesting political campaign strategy – Lets brainwash the youth so they can vote for my party in the future since we can’t win elections now and have no message or solutions for our nation’s problems. Hope the school board has a big set of brass ones and cans this idiot. McDonald’s is hiring bud – get on line behind the illegal immigrants.

It's nothing new and I'd imagine it goes on from both sides (I don't really get much Pro Right up here though, as you could imagine).  But, of course, I'm talking about college here.

I just hope people don't come off with the idea that all professors are like this.  I've got a sociology teacher (of all things) who constantly plays devils' advocate for the right (most kids are left), and a geography professor who, though he constantly talks about politics (it's a political geography type class), I have no idea as to what his personal views are.

Then again, I also have a history professor who stumbles upon Bush every class in some way or form, but the guy's 80 years old or so and bordering on senility, so it's just amusing.  Even so, history teachers need to be able to compare and contrast (hopefully, from a neutral view, but that's tough for humans in general).

In highschool the only real agenda I ever ran into was from a very sweet Jewish woman who found a way to incorporate the Holocaust into every required reading for English class.  IMO, that's not a bad lesson, and the books are in English, so no problem there.

This guy though, if the allegations prove to be true, is way over the line.

It’s a Bulletin Board Post (Usually a lot of cyber slang, cyber grammar etc). If I was submitting it to the New York Times it would be a lot different but then again they would never publish it based on the content of the story would they? Nice try to transfer/deflect the topic of the thread with a personal attack. :aok

That wasn't a personal attack. I would have called you an extreme right nut job no better than the extreme left liberals you hate so much, if I was going to personally attack you.

What funny is that Athens is only a little over an hour north of where I live and nothing has really been said about this apparently boneheaded jackprettythang teacher. If something other than what you have posted already comes up I will post it here.

Just another lame excuse from someone too lazy.  This is not mealtime, not an IM. You have the time to make sure your writing is up to par. If you intend to bash one side or the other, at least take the time to look intelligent while doing so.  I'm not concerned with the topic. I said my piece.  I don't give credence to people with such crappy writing skills.

Your own argument is based purely on emotion, with no logical basis.  The prior teacher was reinstated after it was learned he gave good time to both sides.  This teacher showed a video using profanity.

While I agree politics needs to stay out of the high school classroom, your assessment sound more like Ann Coutier on the rag.

I suspect they would reject anything you wrote out of literary conscientiousness rather than any political stance.

Ok Mr. Editor of the Los Angeles Times wannabe – I believe Shakespeare was quoted as stating “Brevity is the soul of wit." Nice shade account – How many posts have you made?

I saw a better one.

Its not a racist slam at Secretary Rice.  nooooo, not at all.

-------------
The following sample math problem was given to students as part of their final exam at Bellevue Community College in Washington State.

-------------
Condoleezza holds a watermelon just over the edge of the roof of the 300 -foot Federal Building, and tosses it up with a velocity of 20 feet per second. The height of the watermelon above the ground t seconds later is given by formula h= -16t2 + 20t + 300

a. How many seconds will it pass her (she's standing at a height of 300 feet) on the way down?

b. When will the watermelon hit ground?

It's not a shades account. I used to play years ago under a different name, but left when the requirements became too much for my computer.  I'm getting setup to buy a new computer, so I'm making myself known again.

What does the number of my posts have anything to do with this?  It's quality, not quantity, that makes the wise man.  Learn that.

And Plato said, "wise men speak because they have something to say, fools because they have to say something."

Oops, the spell checker didn't flag that, because it only checks the spelling.  I've made a few other errors too. I'm not perfect, but I work toward something better than IM speak or hormonal rant.

But in my defense, anything intended for a serious audience and publication goes before another pair of eyes.

You should make sure your own writing is up to par before you make that point to someone else.

Examples:

1. "I agree politic needs to" should be "I agree politics need to".

2. "your assessment sound more" should be "your assessment sounds more".

These are just two examples of "crappy" writing skills from your post. Based on your own criteria, does this mean you should not be given any credence?

When I read a post on the BBS, I try not to judge writing skills. I realize a lot of people make a quick post without checking it for technical writing accuracy.

Now to the topic at hand, fire the bastard!

I like Laura Ingraham – Ann Coulter is a little too far right for me. It's Coulter by the way, not Coutier. At least my facts are correct. So my grammar may not be to your liking and I definitely won't be changing it for you. I double majored in Accounting and Computer Science and found English Literature, Communications, and Intro to Writing to be quite BORING. On second thought maybe I'll take up Spanish. At the rate the latinos are invading our country it should be our national language in about 25 years. I’ll be looking forward to the debate and the exchange provided I have the time.
