A New Scourge

Had this happen to me today at A7 in the Pac Map...was something that almost made me vomit and what players will do to get a kill.

I was in a dogfight with a P47 in my plane and was coming up on him pretty well. He was about 800 out and I was closing. I check my views to make sure I'm good and I keep flying towards him as he starts to make a lazy left climbing bank.

Thinking I had the sure kill, I hear "CHECK SIX" come up and see tracers fly by me. I cut the throttle to half and nose down and then bank hard to the right. I came around to see the pilot who was behind me (he was 1k away, but was diving and was close to light speed) kill the P47.

Now I look around and notice that there wasn't any other bogies. No debris, no crash. I didn't hear an explosion either. I got angry. I had been faked.

Its worse enough for some to call a false Check Six on you to make you hesitate or break off from an enemy plane so that they can get the kill, but now it hit a new low. Firing tracers from behind to make it seem like the Check Six is warranted.


You guys can say that I should keep my SA on high and look, but my instinct to seeing tracers whiz by and hearing a supposedly helpful pilot calling Check Six on me is to break. Sure, I may lose my firing position but at least I'm alive and can probably get back in the groove.


I know that there isn't any counter to this other than checking your six quickly to see if there a bogey, but when you see tracers players would rather just make a sharp break and then look for the attacker.


This is just a heads up for respectable pilots that this is going on...

I think I speak on behalf of the whole community when I say, " We need a name". Without one, it's just kinda blah.

from what i am hearing in the forums, the community is being filled by sniveling peutrid cowards who will stab anyone in the back to get a kill. i used to want to get a new vid card and get back in the frey, but when i hear about stuff such as this it makes me lose hope. i think HTC needs to cut way back on the comercials, it is drawing in too many, for lack of a better word, savages. when i first started out, the missions were huge and well-led. when i last played, you were lucky to get 5 guys to join your buff mission.

And the LCA have put some doozies out lately.  I think we had somewhere around 60 bombers up Sunday night.

Might not have been on purpose, then again it might have been, I wasnt there. But I do find that check 6 button rather annoying. Sometimes I will be trying to give a squadie a check 6 and spend a minute trying to toggle through all of the names, yet it never seems to go to the person I wanted it to. So I just stop trying and it will give a check 6 to the wrong person while I type "check 6 so-and-so" because it is quicker than spending a minute trying to get the check 6 to go to the right person.

Its not all that black. Yes, there are dweebs and lamers and idiots... maybe a little more then in the old Beta days (I cant compare, since i havent been there that long).

But then, you only ever hear about the bad stuff on these boards. Noone posts about the teamwork and the "good" check six calls.... the helping each other out. Its there, and not as rare as some make it to be.







Todd: Its definitly different if you do that to a squaddie you know, love-hate and want to annoy. Now, go give Dedalos some smacktalk for me.... hes been asking for it for a while now..... to my embarrassment, i cant seem to satisfy him.

I'm not trying to bad mouth the gameplay or the comraderie of Aces High, I am addicted to the friendship in the game that you make with other pilots.

The reason I posted this subject was akin to announcing something like it being flu season or a putting up a notice of a lemon car or etc.

Basically, saying that it is out there and could be happening and to watch out for it. Be more attentive to your surroundings and always, ALWAYS, look around around before landing those shots.

It has happened to me also...  Not to the extreme that you mentioned, but friendlies shooting over or just under me to me make break off an enemy so they can steal the kill.

I don't think I have ever had the CHECK6 to go with it.... He77, I can't even get my country to throw out a CHECK6 when it is warranted, let alone just for fun. LOL

Sigma, i didnt want it to sound like i was "attacking" your post. I apologize if it came off that way.

I just wanted to say that we tend to forget about the good stuff in AH.


And yes, i find it sad looking at the LAME things happening in the MA at times. Is killing a cartoon plane really all that important? Sometimes it feels that youre safer with the red guys then with the green ones aroubd.

I do know the TA has been full to overflowing with 14,12,10 and yes even 8 year olds.

If HT charged about $50 bucks per month it would weed out some of the teenagers and we remember the old days when we were charged per hour of playtime?...  I am not saying we need to go back to that...
but at $15 bucks a month... well lets face it ....   We could weed out some of the folks that are lets say less serious ....  for a higher fee...
I would gladly pay more for a better game with less teenage horse crap..
