Whats up with FIFA?

Uday Hussein tortured and murdered members of the Iraq national team for failing to qualify for the World Cup in 1997

FIFA Respone - None

Taliban used UN funded soccer stadium as a venue to slaughter and torture hundreds if not thousands of innocent.

FIFA Response - None

Palestinians name a soccer tournament after a suicide bomber who killed 31 people at the Park Hotel.

FIFA Response - None

Palestinians launch Qassam Rockets at an Israeli stadium injuring several people including children require medical treatment.

FIFA Response - None

Israel attacks an empty soccer field in Gaza used for terrorist training - no one injured.

FIFA Response - Condemnation of Israel, and discussion of suspending Israel from international competition.

There are many more instances of this clear case of hypocrisy in the article below (not to mention banners about gasing Jews at some Arab and European stadiums, for which FIFA has made no comment)

Anti-semitic.  Editted. (Same thing as far as I'm concerned, except one is bigotry towards ones religion instead of color of skin)

Think of FIFA as the UN only replace the USA, Russia and China at the top with France, Germany and South America.

FIFA's decision regarding the offside rule and 'inactive/active' players is also a bit bonkers, and more important.

America is anti-semitic. I agree, let's not debate it.

On a much lighter note, the US team is now ranked #4 in the World on points.

At least some of the claims made against FIFA are misleading.

Regarding the Iraqi torture incident, FIFA sent an investigation team to Iraq, interviewed the players who had alegedly been tortured, and gave them medical examinations. No evidence of torture was found.

In regards to Afghanistan, they dropped out of the world sprots scene in the 80s, by the time of the Taliban takeover they were inactive, and had no contact with FIFA whatsoever.

Most importantly, FIFA did not suggest suspending Israel from any competition. They said they were considering what action to take, but nothing more than that. The only action they are taking is to pay for the pitch to be repaired.

Thanks for providing actual fact rather than the 'email circular' rubbish that started this thread, Nashwan.

FIFA rankings are a bit bonkers too. They include friendlies in their calculations for instance, and the European competition qualifying groups are much more competitive than the Americas. Mexico and USA generally pay rubbish teams in friendlies. ;)

I'm not sure how the Czech Republic is 2nd. Last time they did anything was Euro '96 which is outside of the 8 year rankings data capture. Also, England won their most recent friendlies, but lost 12 points in March. Interesting.

World cup seedings are where it is at. England is second only to Brazil using that obviously superior system. ;)

I agree.  However I do like the new ruling regarding delaying a restart.

"If a player from the side that has been penalised deliberately touches the ball after the referee stops the game for a free kick, this will be considered as delaying the restart of the game and shall be sanctioned with a yellow card. These sanctions shall be applied equally to players who touch the ball after conceding a throw in or corner kick and to players who keep possession of a ball after their team has conceded a goal," the law goes on to say.

This is intended to do away with unsporting conduct aimed at wasting time by holding onto the ball. It is also aimed at avoiding altercations instigated by players taking possession of the ball after the whistle has blown."

:rofl With the exception of the last example, I fail to see what any of this has to do with antisemitism.  I grew up in Europe and I never saw a palestinian soccer team participating in any FIFA events.  However, Israel is in every European competition.  Last I checked, it was not part of Europe so it would seem, Israel is getting the special treatement.   Soooo, you cannot really do anything to the Palestinians as FIFA since they are not really participants.  Israel on the other hand, is, and is also supposed to be the rightfull not terorist nation, so attacking an empty stadium should be panishable.

Splain to me though why they attacked an empty stadium? :rofl we both know thats BS.  When the UK was kicked out of the EU competitions for years because of what some funs did in Haisel (check speling), no one cried Anti-Britism :lol.  Anyone mentions israel and the Antisemitism flag comes out.  Quit whining already and go bomb some empty stadiums and buildings  I guess if you have a uniform on and throw bombs form airplains instead of back packs, you are not a terorist :rofl
