Grrraaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: April 21, 2006, 10:23:39 AM »
Ive only been flying for about 8 months and already Im really really really really sick of the lack of perk planes. I keep seeing a majority of the people in the MA flying outragiously good planes like the La7s and Spit 16 and they use them like they are desposable (which they pretty much are) So can we PLEASE make it so there is a cost for these people to fly great planes. I say you have to be good enough to earn the perks for these planes in order to fly them. look at the thyphoon and then tempest the good one is perked, so we could make it so the la5 is free but the 7 costs something like 7-11 perks, make spits 1-9 free and perk the rest. Couldnt hurt to perk a 38 too (dont know which 38 is the best). the P51B is free perk the D, same with the Yaks. You could perk another bomber, I have like 400 bomber points and the jet bomber just doesnt cut it for me. You could make it cost something to take control of a ship too.

I think this would even the playing field for everybody, eliminate the stock piles of perks people aquire,( I heard somebody say they had 5000 points, thats freaken crazy). People would start being more careful with their planes, like WWII pilots were with their lives. People would probably stop HOing so much, I know if I just baught a plane that costs 50 points that would take me 10 landed kills to get I sure as heck wouldnt wanna go and HO an La7. Does anybody agree with me on perking more planes. People wont have to regularly crash 262s just to even out the points  It would add a whole new factor of sence of accomplishment to the game, youd actually have to work your way up like in real life in ww2. If you agree post your thoughts so that it will grab the attention of HTC and they might accept the idea. Thanks everybody:)

HMMM just what the bbs needed a perk the La-7/spit XVI thread.
What an original idea.

EDIT:  Let me ask you a question. If HTC perks the aircraft you mentioned will the whine stop? I'd say no. Why? Because you'd have typhies that ho and run instead of la7s  Perk the spit XVI you scream, yup a mass of nikkis might change that tone. Ohh and getting bounced in your P-40 by a P51-D is not much different than being bounced by a B model. You are still not going to catch him.

:rofl

To summarise, you are saying that you want to level the playing field by having only the good pilots flying La7s and Spit 16s?

Not again! Dont pick on the planes. I fly an La-7 alot. Gettin good at the turn fight too. Most just dont appreciate the good non perked planes so they dont get the experience they need to fly them right. If the La-7 does eventually get perked I hope to be good enough to dog fight in it (for a few minutes anyway) and be able to RTB.:D

You seem to get frustrated with the running, ahem, extending as do i when flying vastly inferior planes.  A Hurri Mk. 1 from the 30's is DEFINATELY not going to catch a P51 from 1944.  Learn to kill them with what you have.  You may love a plane but sometimes it just doesn't get the job done.  That's the beauty of this game, you aren't stuck in one ride your whole gaming experience, you can change.  When the poo hits the fan i'm not upping with 8 .303s blazing, although it is fun.  I am upping a Hurri 2C with 4 20 MM hispanos blasting away.

They play how they want, you play how you want, and no one wants to die.  Kill or be killed kiddo.

Ummm,   lemme see?  This is the Wishlist isn't it?  I didn't see where this thread turned into "perk La-7" agenda.  Amazing how the Pony pilots aren't complaining, ie. me.  I love a little La La defense as well as the next country conscious pilot.  HTC must have a reason for a wishlist.  I remember the ENY introduction.

There is evidence that gameplay does not reflect the WWII environment as intended.  The main arena is unique in that it gives pilots an opportunity to fly all the planes in a World War II setting.  Glacier has pointed out that the actual pilots were skilled and had more than perk points at risk. Pilots in AH can jump in the cockpit and push the throttle full regardless of training.  I personally am pleading for Tour of Duty to be released (my wish).

Flying with stall limiter on/ off, Tracers on / off, flaps, maintaining "e" / alt advantage, turnfighting, extending, etc. have been given a great deal of consideration in modeling AH.  I love to catch a La-7 above the clouds with me in my P47D-11 and see where the advantage goes.  I have a lot to learn, but one learns quickly how easily the La-7's speed and maneuverablility with cannons can earn you kills.

Other arenas do offer a more evenly matched playing field, but MA is the big draw.

Not meant to offend anyone but, stepping on someone else's wishlist is a bit Grinch like.

Glacier I use to be in your camp until I came to a realization. If you perk those 2, people just jump to the next "best" plane. Ultimately you'd have to perk till everyone can only fly the P40B.

And why should you complain about being killed by a "skilless noob" but if you let a "skilless noob" kill you.Who is the noob now.:D And no we don't agree with you about the perk part. But Spit-16 should be perked LA-7 is easy to kill.

if you perk the la7, the 190D9, the 109K4 and the spit 16 what then?

First off the really GOOD pilots will still fly those planes. Only there won't be another unperked plane in the set that can catch them. So now your getting cherry picked constantly by good pilots with lots of perks who don't mind loseing one now & then. And there is NO way to kill them with the planes available.

PLUS, everyone else is going to fly the la5, the nik, the spit 8, the rest of the 190 & 109 fleets. What have you really accomplished? Instead of la7's you'll see la5fns. Instead of 190d9 you'll see a5's, 8's. Instead of 109K4 you'll see g14's.
The differences between them are not that great. With the possible exception of the spit 16, it has it ALL.

If spit16's are giving you a hard time drop into the TA some night. Hook up with widewing, soda, murdr, or badboy. Find out HOW to kill spit 16's.

Nik's do it pretty nicely, as does the F4u series.

Granted there was a time when I'd of liked to see the spit16's perked (low 4 - 6)
But when it became obvious that wasn't going to happen I changed rides. Started learning how to beat them. Now spit 16's are my favorite kill.

And why should you complain about being killed by a "skilless noob" but if you let a "skilless noob" kill you.Who is the noob now

No where in my post do I recall saying I was being shot down by "skilless noobs" nor having trouble shooting down Spits and La's. I also never claimed to be the best pilot in the world. I noticed people picking on my P40, heck you can perk that too, I couldnt care less, that way you guys know im not just picking on your planes cuz I dont like them. If more planes are going to cost points than you have to start somewhere and what better place than some of the best planes in the game. Perking them does not mean noobs wont be able to fly them, if I can fly a P40 and land just two kills in it than I would have enough perks, so if I can do it Im sure other people can too. This would level the playing field for people, We already have the best pilots flying these planes cherry picking us. Why not make them Pay for it. You guys act like its impossible to shoot down a good plane in a something of lesser ability, Its been done before, alot actually by veterans and noobs alike, I shot down a 262 with a P40, like I said Im not the greates pilot in the world, so if I can do it I have no doubt in my mind others can aswell.

Im just trying to find a way to use up an insane amount perk points aquired by all players, we have what 5 or 7 perked planes in the game, If people are getting into the thousands of perks points odviously there are no perked planes that interest them, and if that is the case than what is the point of having perk counts and perked planes in the first place, if we cant use the perks than We dont need them. Give people like me, who are picky with what planes they fly a wider variety of  perked planes to choose from. Its not like perked planes are beyond the reach of all players as soon as the price taged on. Im only thinking of a cost between 5-15 points not 50 or 200 like the Tempest and 262. I see people routinely flying the F4U1C which is an average of about 12 points, which means people can afford it, I dont see a problem.

Glacier, I am betting This is not your first flight sim. True noobs in the MA flying early war AC would be real bad. This games learning curve is HUGE.
They would become frustrated and leave with out a crutch. Remember its not all about you .
Guys with the silly amount of perk points do indeed fly mostly early war stuff anyway. How do you think they got them in the first place. It wasn't buy flying la7s , 51Ds , and other low eny AC
How is a guy with 5000 perk point hurting your fun?
Is he stopping you from upping your P-40?
Please tell me how a person with 5000 perk point hurts you?
Like you said you shot down a 262 with your P-40.
I think you should thank the guy in the 262 for having the perk points to fly it.
Imagine that you had shot down a 109-e would you still feel as good?

I feel good every time I shoot someone down:D

It's true, my 5000 perkies have come from flying 109 F's, all makes of Hurricanes, and various other aircraft.  But then i've been flying for almost 3 years so 5000 doesn't mean much;)
