Generally speaking, you add a 6 to it, and fly it like you would any other 1944 plane.

Well Schatzi, in a Spit1 you just can't catch any butt to kick.  You'd be hard pressed to gain closure on a 202.

But generally speaking one would just fly it like any other Spitfire, but just take care not to cut the engine out too much, and perhaps hope to God for a headshot.

It can be a fun plane, but the fun is usually to be had in small groups or lone wolfing it...  (At least in MA)  Not too much fun in a furball being the assist king.

Fun it is definitly.

Compared to the HMk1... its a little easier catching your target, a little more difficult to tail it (due to bad roll) - the guns dont really deserve the name.... you either have the target on convergence or hell feel like your throwing a handfull of gravel at him.

I think i basically fly it like a HMk1 - which is why I dont think MY films are a good example.

Pooface, it would be great if you could post them. If not, mail them and I will host. Thanks.

compared to the hurricane mk1 the spitfire mk1 is a total waste of time.

diving at speeds over 280mph you have less control response than a 109g6 at the same speed. compression, while never life threatening, is a contant problem with hard turning cannon firing opponents. high speed snapshots and long deflection kills are out of the question unless you are a gunnery god.

slow speed its a little beauty, slightly lighter and alot less powerfull than our spitfire mkV. sadly ever down here the hurricane mk1 will dominate in every area except climb.

when the carb cus out you may find the resulting plumets and death spins can be very tough.

as far as flaps go the hurricane is just laughing at the spit.

seriously, the spit mk1 is probably the most unlikely plane to get kills in a fully dar bar'ed sector.

if you really want a laugh, try taking out a box of B17s with one.

it is a really fun plane.

Ive flown the Spit1 a bit the last few days and I actually do really enjoy it.

What I do is I come in at about 5k into furballs. Flying higher is a waste of time. I look for enemies that are locked on target below me. The good thing is that no one takes you seriously so you get time to work your targets.

If someone is low and slow you can saddle up on him no problems. Especially on Spit16 dweebs. Im dead serious here Ive had Spit16s trying to out turn me. If you see him using his roll he is a decent pilot and then you break off. If he doesnt you will get him.

The three things you got to your advantage are a) element of supprice no one takes you seriously b) a decent climb rate up to 5k c) good turn rate.

you have to push the little bugger vertiacally and use that sub 5k climbrate to keep all the E you can keep in the plane.

A big nono is to attempt rolls in high yoyo like manouvers. If you roll in a high yoyo you will create a situation where you are inverted and h ave pulled neg g. This will kill you. You will be left hanging inverted without any engine power and you will end up in a death spiral.

You have to use your snap shots alot. You have to think ahead alot finding the angles and cutting the lines inorder to get into firing solution.

Also when you are in the furball make sure to stay on the perimeter and dont get sucked to deep into it as you wount get out.

Since you will constantly be at low alt you will have to work on your BnZ avoidance skills. Its quite easy as your so slow that most people wount hit you in BnZish attacks but you will constantly have to worry about it.

Is a fun plane to fly but yes the Hurrie1 is definatly a better plane. Only thing you got on the hurrie is the climb rate at sub 5k. But this can be used very effectivly.

The only real times Ive flown the spit 1 was in the MA for about 2 weeks pretty consistently for the BoB scenario.  Then flew it in the AvA which was fun as the planes were equal and MA was boring.

Guns are definately not truly respected as when flying it in the MA, found it would tear apart cv craft and 51s with ease.
