Hell yes.  Before I come down on someone like that it goes like this...

I see FriendlyPilot getting run all over the sky by red SpitXVI

I say "Hey, friendlyPilot, you got that under control or do you need a little help?'

And if they say "I got it, thanks" then I fly away and the friendly dies because he was too proud to ask for help...

OR

"Yeah, this guy is eating me for lunch PLEASE HELP!".. Then I'll swoop in and plaster the bogey if I can, or at least force a break for my Green Buddy.

There's nothing wrong with it, its called team work.  And if I toss you an and you get your goggles fogged up about it, well... I guess you can just pack sausage, because it was all above board no matter what you think about it.

Happens all the time... You don't know who that cherrypicker is.  Often, he was called in by the other guy.  I think you've forgotten that people have squad vox, and that squads are... you know... teams...  Pick a fight with a member of a team and you risk getting the whole team on ya.

If you want clean one on one fighting, go to D.A.

He's there turning and burning, and you come down and cherrypick, then toss a like you did something special.

For me, and I imagine for him, typing .s XXX means they did something good, and they earned my respect.  Typing it after a perfunctory cherrypick, with no fight or skill involved, is a perversion of the .  In my opinion of course.

It'd be like killing someone in the 5 inch gun and saluting afterwards.

Heck, my own damned squaddies get pisted at me because show so little interest in "teamwork". :D

Oh...BTW, if I find a fight like you mention about (7 v 1)....I go find another fight. Stuff like that bores me to tears. :)

Very well, I apoligise for the shabby way I spoke to you.  I misguidedly took you for a cherrypicker who was not only content to do it, but proud to.

I'm sorry for that, and .

No problem. It's all good. :)

I'm just a guy that's been around long enough to not care about skill, cherries, vulchs, winning the war...etc.. I'm here for MY entertainment. About the only thing consistant...is that I'm an alt monkey. A fellow named Killer (creator of WW2OL) taught me years ago that the best 'nanas are at the top of the tree. Everyone knows monkeys love 'nanas. :D

Oh..BTW, if you are gonna pick up some "skill"...get me a 6-pack. I could really use some. :)

they police squad channels now? I once gave a 5 minute speech/manifesto on squad, subject being someone that pissed me off with his timid cherrypick skills, as to make Geoge Carlin flush beet red with shame.

You just wait till the other guys box him in and get him slow, then you swoop in and "save" them.

As I said, "Unless his SA is overwhelmed", in which case it really isn't a cherrypick it's just an old fashioned gang-banging...

The archetypical example of the cherry pick would be two cons engaged, your friendly is losing and about to be destroyed, you dive in and save him by destroying his opponent. This is what really pisses off the cherry because not only was he killed but he was also denied a sure kill on your teammate...While this fashion of descriminating cherrypicking is not particularly sporting it sure can frustrate the enemy and if repeated it can change the course of the ebb and flow of a furball...Oh, and it is also very  realistic...

Very few of us fly around in the MA with assigned wingmen or flights like they had in WW2, ad hoc mutual fighter support in the MA is a reasonable fascimile of this and serves the same purpose of mutual support. Cherrypicking is just one facet of this mutual support. While 1 vs 1 individual combat, somehow by miracle or intention hermetically sealed off from the rest of the furball, sounds romantic it's the rare exception not the rule both in real life and in the AH MA.

And that is well and good, but there is no need to insult with the .s.

There are two kinds of people who would do that.  One is an ignorant person.  The kind that doesn't know that a salute is a mark of respect.  The other is an ******, who is trying to rub in his "hard earned victory".

The second kind also salutes after scoring "victories" in 5 inch guns and flakpansies, or so I'm told.

lol why is it that everytime I post a topic people talk about something different than the topic? Cherrypicking is fine, all I said was what I dont like is when people give you a like they achieved it on their own

So, your problem is that you don't deserve the and that is why you are upset?

If that is the problem, go on channel 200 and declare that you did nothing special and you do not desrve that salute. Everyone should know that you were cherry picked like a common noob and did not put up a fight to desrve it.

If your problem was the cherry picking I'd understand it (though there's nothing wrong with it except for not being gentleman like). If your problem is the other guy gloating - suck it up and don't salute back.

Personally, I don't even listen to 200. Saves me both the whines and the replies.

Revor, all that aside, I think the point was also brought up earlier in the thread that the guy who scores the kill is not always the cherrypicker.

Its very possible that the came from the guy who DID earn it.

Why let it get to you?  Since you can't know who was who back there, why assume its the last one who hit ya?

I think this situation can develop in a lot of ways that aren't just some no-skill dweeb blowing the tail off your plane.
