im not sure if its a bug or it was changed intentionally, but, why cant i belly land at more than 200 mph anymore? sometimes its helpful if you have only 1/2 a wing or are being chased by someone to be able to set it down on the belly. also slows you down much faster.

that was implimented a long time ago to stop the 300+ mph "ditches"

for a while you couldn't ditch at all, but it was fixed.

Anything above 130 mph wheels up is risky, 200+ is suicide....

Think of a REAL plane "ditching" at that speed.... how would the pilot look after auch a 'landing'?

As Mustaine already posted, that "feature" (=bug) has been removed a few patches (if not versions) ago.

You can still land wheels up, but you gotta do it at reasonable speeds. If you absolutly NEED to do a high speed landing, touch down wheels *down*, then push the plane onto its nose/to the side, break off the wing and gear if possible. With a little practice, all this can be done staying on the runway.
21 is only half the truth.

Yeah, that was very lame feature.

moneyguy, generally you cannt belly land without wingtip. You need to land at wheels (tip: key to success is flaps).

Can still belly, just need to be slow enough. Just managed to ditch a 109k4 with halve wing (that is one and a halve), i think you must have a speed of below 150mph.

Any ground contact with higher speed than the limit (i am not sure of what the limit is) will explode and kill you. The cases where anyone would survive a ditch with higher speeds in a ww2 aircraft are pretty scarce i guess, no longer getting wings shot  off and successfully ditching.

so when your loosing to some guy in a dogfight you would like 2 be able to do a 300mph belly landing and ditch instead of getting a kill?

no, when im coming in fast with half a wing, id like to be able to set it on the runway, somtimes it takes a bit more than 200 mph to stay upright with half a wing.

I would challenge you to belly land a plane with fuel on board at 200MPH and see how well it turns out for you.  I'll have emergency crews standing by, although a firetruck will probably be all that's needed...

Landing w/o wingtip must be difficult. Instead of asking for return that lame feature back take time to learn how to land properly. Most planes (if not any) can be landed at wheels w/o wingtip.
