Memorial Day is not a celebration. Sure... we all have our barbecues and beer with family and friends, but this isn't the point of the holiday, I believe.
Sandman, not sure about how you celeberate memorial day. The only day we have up here that is similar, is Remembrance day (veterans day in the US?) November 11th.
For me November 11th is a time of reflection, a time of remembrance, and indeed, a time of celebration. I celebrate the men and women who gave me what I have today. Freedom.
Maybe that's the way we can keep the memory of those who sacrificed thier time, and some thier lives, alive. We can celebrate our freedom, because some gave it to us, and some stand on guard (and still lose thier lives) today to ensure we keep it.
Not a criticism sir, just how I see it up here.
cheers,
all veterans
